Guys, Here is a car being built by a friend in Lenwood Ca. He is a young guy and all these build ideas are his as also are the fabrication was done by Lee. The body is an old race car. It was pretty bad. The cowl was gone and there were no inner panels. Lee is using a flatty Ford with two carb intake, aluminum heads, beehive oil filter in front of a 4 speed tranny. The suspension uses air springs and the arms and suspension were all made by Lee. Brent will add the pix to go with the story. It is a slow build as Lee works for Santa Fe RR and his weekend time is mostly with his family.
Brent, Thanks for posting. Pix look great. This coupe has quite a story. It is believed to be an old race car. The cowl was gone as were all the interior panels. The chop looks like it is for an old lakes car. The frame is an original '33. Lee fabricated the hair pins and the radius rods for the rear axle. The front suspension uses air springs hidden under the cowl. The rear is suspended by some real small air springs. They sit on top of the column on the bottom of the rear bracket.
Guys, I would like to comment on one of the photo's that Brent posted for me. In the second group of photo's there is one picture that needs explanation First it is rotated to the right about 90 degrees. It is a air horn that one of Lee's relatives made during WW II while he was serving in the Navy. Also in the second group was the sprint car steering box that Lee found. Hope you guys enjoy the progress as Lee builds his Hot Rod.
Guy's, I am in shock. This thread is almost two years old . . . . . WWWOOOOWWWW ! ! ! ! ! These pix are of the rear nerf bar and tail lights. Bracket for lights is a piece of chain . . . . The third is the new carbs Lee got from Speedway. So here is some pix to bring you guys up to date. Dave
60Galaxy, That is an air powered whistle that Lee's grandfather made during WWII while he was in the Merchant Marine. He would blow it if someone was messing around wiping down the driveshaft in the boat. Now it's the horn for Lee's Hot Rod ! Dave
