Technical Leaking valve

    Brake line residual valve is leaking.1960 Bel Air ; disc/drum, dual master cylinder. Is there a way to seal the threads?On that one end there is not a flare fitting.I have a new residual valve that I will install proportioning valve.JPG proportioning valve.JPG valve end.JPG brassfitting.JPG insert.JPG

    Are you using a pipe to flare fitting?

    Yes but it leaked. I want to know what to do, to prevent a leak , before I install the new part

    depends where it's leaking from. Make sure the threads are all the type that you think they are. If the flare on the tube is defective, it will leak. You would need to cut off the end, and make a new double flare.

    Installed new line from mc to the new residual valve.Tightened everything before installed in the car.No leak.Tomorrow I will bleed the rear line and drive the car;to see how the brakes are.

    residual valve leaked- new outta box.took it out of the system.A buddy stated I need a proportioning valve; so i ordered one.

    Are you using tape on flare fittings??
