Later model brake booster in '60 Ventura

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 440Dave, Jan 17, 2013.

  1. Our 60 Ventura has worn out it's power brake booster. I want to replace it and put a dual reservoir master cylinder in as well. Is there a favorite setup for this conversion? What year/model parts would be the easiest, hopefully to bolt right in and just make up some new lines?

  2. Around again... Is there a 60s or 70s drum brake master cylinder and booster thats an easy swap?
  3. The bolt pattern on those is the same as many later ones. You could even put a hydroboost on there if you wanted. I don't think it much matters otherwise, there's tons of room under there.

As for the master, go dual with one from... probably early '70s Chevy 1/2 ton pickup with all drum brakes. You're going to need to find a junction block somewhere from that era to plumb the lines out the same way. Here again all of them will bolt on, I'm just suggesting one from a similar weight vehicle that will be easy to come by.
  4. their is a guy in portland ore. that rebuilds boosters. if you can find a diaphram they are simple to rebuild.
