Just recently found out about using a 409 water pump on a late model flathead. Any pictures & info would be appreciated! Thanks!
If directed at me, I am generally the youngest dude around the hr scene here, at 44, which is kind of an oxymoron, lol. To be a youngster around here, you can still be old. Hey, if you wanna look skinny, hang out with fat people, right? This era of auto is new to me too, so joining here was to learn more about the hamb era specifically, so I indeed see a lot of things for the first time that guys have been doing for decades.
It use to be a Cornhusker conversion kit to adapt the W engine chevy pump to a flattie, I don't believe it is still available > https://www.hotrod.com/articles/0711rc-flathead-water-pumps/ scroll to the bottom.
I recently had the machine shop run 11 kits, have sold 5 so far. For some reason I must have deleted all my closeup photos. For a really good view of one go to koolbeans thread on here on building his 32 5 window and scroll down the first page for a good photo of the kit on the front of his Ardun Flathead. Also check my ad on here and the Ford Barn. I've sold a lot of kits in the past. I'll sell the kit a little cheaper without the alt mount. Gary at Cornhusker
modern seals and bearings seems to be the big sale point. I can imagine the price point of a single new Chevy pump vs two Ford pumps is also a thought. the article linked also mentions being able to run “modern” belt tension so I can see if You were running accessories or an alternator that is more modern and needs correct tension this would also help
@koolbeans thread mentioned https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/32-five-window-highboy.1134525/ First two photos I saw of the part discussed
