Late model axles modified like banjo axles?

I've got parts to build my 28/29 A Tudor, and I've got a couple v-8 banjo rears, a 36 and a 48. I've got the wide five stuff I need, I love the look of wide fives without caps, so I absolutely refuse to run adapters. I want to see original hubs in the center of the wheels.

While I can set up the frame with a banjo and baby it for awhile and resist the urge to mash the throttle, eventually I'm going to want to run the hell out of that nail head.

Just curious if anyone has ever taken like a 9" and had the axle shafts machined to accept banjo drums.
