I had the trunk of my Olds shaved and now I need to set up the latch. I'm using an electric solenoid that has the wire cable already attached to it. The photo shows where the latch must be pulled to open it. What is the best way to attach the cable? Can I just wrap it around and use a cable crimp or should I sleeve the cable with something so it's not rubbing metal to metal? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I like a bicycle brake cable. About $3. You can get away with a couple bends. I just crimp the end after I cut the cable and sheath to the right length.
