To be honest im pretty allergic to the word hero, but Watson deserves it w/out a doubt.
He was THE game setter, more than a game changer!

    RIP! :(

  6. I wanted to bump this up. I am sure it would mean alot to his Family to see some Watson influenced cars show up to the service. Lets send Larry out in style.

  7. Larry Watson was a hero of mine....... I loved his style and painted my car as sort of a tribute to him. He will be missed.

With Mr. Watson, "Big Daddy" Roth, Von Dutch.... Hot Rod Heaven will be seeing some outrageous cars & really incredible paint.

A real pioneer of hot rodding and customizing. his impact on painting is so great as to have influenced virtually every style that has come along since he did his first panel job......

There's a lot of other pioneers who have gone away and, fortunately, many more that are still with us, but I wonder if Mr.Watsons influence might be among the most influential....... after all, everybodys' car, whether custom or race, street driven hot rod, muscle car, etc needed a custom paint job. I don't remember anyone who didn't want/dream about having this kind of finish on his car....
I think most all of the people that I grew up idolizing are now gone. There are others that influenced and inspired me, but Watson, Roth, and Bill Cushenberry were on the top of my list from the beginning.

    It is a sad day.

Fabulous.... somehow this paint job makes flat black seem so un-cool.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Mr. Watson's passing. God Bless Mr. Larry Watson you were one of the best car and motorcycle painters in the world and will always be missed. Your unique style influenced me and I am sure many others also. You will live on through others who will emulate your unique style in the community of customizing. Your legend shines bright and will live on.

Despite the years of fumes and fuel and lead and paint and chemicals, you think maybe the legends are just going to keep on living, like Gene W traveling and lecturing and working, but even the gods are human I suppose. Sad news...No connection to Larry just an admirer of his style art and otherwise.
