Thought I would share some pics from my buddy Frank that went to Bonneville the last few days hoping to see some fast action on the salts. It was flooded so bad it had to be cancelled , Frank spent some time taking some cool pics of cars and bikes that were there.
As bad as it is, this is a opportunity to see Bonneville in a way we have never seen it in the past. With as many members we have that have the ability to photograph this majestic site in a totally unique way..it sucks that it's been cancelled but I just think of the old adage of making the best of a bad situation. Cool - Thanks - someone needs to make up a T-Shirt with the sign and water as a 2014 souvenir for those that were there.
There is no doubt that the Rolling Bones guys use and abuse their cars as much if not more than anyone one the planet...there is also very little doubt they don't enjoy every minute without regard to any future resale value. This photo will float around on the internet every time anyone Googles Bonneville for many years to come. HRP
It's hardcore to drive a hot rod all the time. It's even more hard core, if you do it in all sorts of weather conditions. But, THIS, is some how NOT a cool thing to see. Nuts.
As far as that picture of the coupe going through the water goes I've been there and done that. Every nut, bolt and washer will have to be removed and cleaned. By the time I got home (700 miles) the king pins were nearly frozen, very difficult to drive. Definitely the worst thing I ever did to my hot rod.
The 3W is Keith's (the Rolling Bones) coupe in 2007. It's now a full blown race car - so it survived.
