  1. I love ladder bars and traction bars. Always have. I have searched for different styles and have come up short.

    I would love to have 1 location for everyone to come to for inspiration and ideas.

    I'll start with two pics from my Skylark build. I chose to go with long lengths for 2 reasons; first, going through some of my vintage Hot Rods, alot of guys ran long ones up to the trans crossmember; second, the strongest part of my car is right there at the trans mount. So I get the look I like and the strength.

    I know that the pics are a bit crude but it's all I have at the moment;

    Had a '66 big block Impala - kept tearing out trailing arms - devised a set up with the coil springs with air bags and ladders to the rear of the car. Looked a little unorthodox - but solved the problem!

    I'm lusting after these I saw on the Bay. Pretty but pricey.

  20. ^^^I love that car!^^^

    I don't know why, but ever since I was a kid I wanted to build a channeled sedan with the same stripe. Kind of an early 60's LeMans vibe going. Killer gasser :cool:

    Thanks comet,
    It's pretty cool thinking the car is liked as far away as japan.

    Kind of OT, but what is the practicality of running a set of ladder bars that long on a vehicle that is planned to be raced regularly. I want my 38 gasser to be as authentic as possible, but also to launch hard and straight. Any opinions? By the way, OL 55 that car makes my pants a couple sizes too small, very sweet!

  23. mE GASSER! Killer Willys. What kind of front axle is that and how is it mounted to the springs? I am asking because it looks like an early ford car axle. I was just wondering if you made special spring pads? Thanksl - TUDOR

    Tudor,
    The car has the original willys axle. The spring pads are cast into the axle. The springs attach with u-bolts. Thanks for the compliment.

    I am bumping this up because I would like to see more Pictures of different set ups. I notice most Ladder Bars hang down to almost the scrub line. Is there a reason for that? Not really a fan of them hanging so low.
