I'm looking into picking up a set of l-78 15 wide whites from coker for my 1950 dodge. So I'm wondering what these look like on full fendered cars. I'm mainly attracted to this size or the h-78 15 because I want around 28 or 29 inch overall diameter and use the 7 inch wide rims I currently have on it. The only thing I don't like about these tires are the lack of "pie crust", but I can't find bias plies with the "crust" for the 7 inch wide rims. Am I on the right track? Or can you guys steer me in the right direction. Show me some pics if you have them.
Sorry about the HUGE picture. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...achment.php?attachmentid=1897742&d=1364269048 this is my ad in the classifieds, maybe that will be better?
I feel the H&L78's are more for 50's and 60's cars while the Firestones and BF Goodrich's are more for the 30's and 40's cars but hey, that's just me....
The "78" series tires did not become available I believe until the 50's or 60's.. If you want your 30's or 40's car to look like it was built in the 50's or 60's, then by all means, use them....
Semantics,,The L-78 Tires gave me the 29.30 height I needed in a whitewall and yeah,,I suppose I was leaning towards the 50's ,60's style. As far as production of the 78 series tires I believe the late 60's. HRP
So are most of you guys running the 4 inch white wall?? I'm torn between the two... I don't want it to look too overwhelming...
The ones on the rear of my truck are 4",,,heck,at one time Coker had a 5" and I had them on a 29 Highboy roadster. HRP
