Almost forgot Rick's "Kustoms":...here's one of YOUR MORE radical builds, Rick (LowLid Dude), and FWIW, Rick drives this kustom where ever he goes...it's not a trailer queen... part Chevy Aerosedan, part Chrysler AirFlow...you just gotta know it took some kind of serious metalwork to make this one happen...!!! BTW, Rick since I haven't seen you all summer, what are you working on now...???

Here's a couple more local kustoms. Keith's "Hawaiian" Chevy: DSCN8190.JPG

    And Scott's Studey...
    DSCN8102.JPG

And finally, one of my good bud's cars...Ron Brown's '56 Caddy...and this one was shot BNP (Before New Paint), in other words, it's not white anymore...!!!

A couple more I found in my archives...don't see too many '57 Olds as kustoms...
    DSCN7192.JPG

And you certainly don't see many chopped '57/'58 Mercs around...

I guess I misunderstood your post? Yes, it is a fantastic car. It was in one of those magazines back in the 1990s, I'm positive.

On a related note: am I the only one here who has taken their own photos of a lot of the cars that are popping up in these posts? It's interesting how all of our kustom tastes intersect, isn't it?

No, you're not alone... and the quality of a build is always present and most of us recognize it, however, lack of quality is present in SOME 'kustoms' but I always chalk those up to possibly "first" builds and the owners will eventually see their work is not quality and will do better on the second, or third car they do. IMHO, overly chopped cars are one of those I speak of - proportions are ruined and therefore, quality of build is missing. Too much bolt-on crap is another, added to make it a "kustom" (in their eyes).

Sancho, if you liked the Plymouth pick-up, how 'bout a Dodge...same year, Front view: DSCN0032.JPG

Back up from page six for the Sunday crowd...here's one all the way from the 1950's - this F-O-R-D was built in the mid-50's, sold a few times, stored for years, pulled out of storage and driven to a few rod runs in the 70's and stored again. It recently surfaced in the Scottsbluff, NE, area restored to what you see here. There should be a few Nebraskans on here that recognize this one. DSCN0037.JPG

Here's a nice Dodge wagon of '55 vintage...
    DSCN0004.JPG

Don't know where I shot this Chevy, prolly Santa Maria, but I liked the top on it and the color...too bad it's got the wrong wheels...
    DSCN0064.JPG

And here's another for Mick...a "true" convertible...??? I have no idea, but this sled is in Mick's favorite color...black...!!!

  20. Roger, that Ford is COOL! I really dig the flame job. Any more shots of it? I am curious about the contour of the rear of the roof. And what's up with the stance?

No Sancho, I don't have any more shots of it...that one was taken two year's ago at the Father's Day event in Scottsbluff/Gering, NE. I knew one of the previous owners from Alliance, NE, but for the life of me can't remember the original owner's name, right now...!!! It'll come to me eventually. Hopefully some Nebraskan's will chime in...

Roger, thanks for including my chevy with all of these great kustoms! i'm still around, just not too visible. i saw you at Golden in Oct, was behind you for a while in the truck. I tore the chevy down for improvements a few years ago and got sidelined with a home purchase, it's been sitting until i get a new shop built, soon...

eta: it's not sectioned, i just raised the wheel openings a few inches.

Roger - I really like that 54 or whatever Buick with the 57 roof and cool and different taillight treatment.

Here are a few more I have seen around.

I always like this 51 Kaiser and it's story - someone's first ever build and he had no auto working skills to start with.

The flamed ford may have been owned by Tom Donahue from Scottsbluff. Tom has owned several nice rides over the years.
