Custom grille I scored on evil bay...Heavy cast aluminum...1949 Dodge...been looking for one of these for 10 years.....anyone know who made them ??
@choptop40 Sorry I cant help ya but congrats on a kool find.
Are you asking who made them for Dodge?
Or who made a custom grill for a 49 Dodge?
The grill you have is a Canadian grill.
The Canadian grills were cast aluminum and the ones made in the USA were made of stainless.
I saw a thing online sometime back that tells about it and the reason for doing it.

Thanks for the kool history lesson.
I believe the reason is Canadian Dodges were actually re badged and trimmed Plymouths due to the fact the Canadian plant only produced the longer straight six engine so needed the extra front end length of the Plymouth body to fit the engine. I also believe the reason the grill was cast was it had to fit the Plymouth sheet metal but look like a Dodge grill and due to the much smaller production numbers in Canada it was easier and cheaper to cast a grill than tool up for a relatively small production run of pressed grill.
I took some bad pics 2016
As requested in the Plush & Padded thread here is the car I wasn't sure if I should post. Not to my taste but the owner loves it.
Some new "old" photos of Taboo. Just playing around with new photo editing software.
Does anyone remember the original blue, "Little Beaver" version of the "Crown Coupe"?
Quite a different animal, and a sweeter custom coupe would be hard to find, bar none!
that sectioned Ford looks fantastic.
