Thanks, Mo, for the year correction. I'm a little weak when it comes to defining those '49-'51 Mercs.

 

I sent you this in a PM, but brought it here also, should anyone else be interested.

Perhaps the single most defining feature of the '51 is the rear fender extensions.
Another is the rear wrap around window, but they are often replaced in the top chop.

(You'll see more '51's with '50 windows, than '50's with '51 quarters. And I venture to say you won't see a '50 with a '51 window.)





EDIT: One final note; The three piece window is 1949.

...it is a Gene Winfield recreation of his famous "Solar Scene", one of the great customs of all time.
(Destroyed in a towing accident.)



It has been "in the works" for half of forever.

Remarkably, at 91 years of age, Gene still has MANY irons still in the fire.
I would love to see this one finished!
