Got room for a pic or two of Rubadub? I'm nearly done with the mechanical & electrical and I hate to see it go. This thing is the tits to drive, just a hell'uva car.

Mick, Is the pic of the '46 Merc from the old KKOA show in Ft Smith?

Pictures are from Gary Glasgow so I'm not for sure where the picture was taken. I thought the Merc had been to Ft. Smith before.

  6. George, I think that pic may well have been taken at Ft Smith. It kinda looks like the stadium from the fair grounds there in the back ground and I'm pretty sure I have a pic or two of the same car at Ft Smith.

Yea, the wire fence and columns were what I remembered. Didn't even know you or Mick back then.
    Now back to Kustoms.

The car was built by John Hychko, of Connecticut, who started with a wrecked '56 Studebaker. It appeared on the cover of Custom Cars magazine, Nov.,1959. The car had eight headlights set in 1959 Dodge fenders, making them brand new pieces at the time (as were the 1959 Caddy fins).

Hychko owned a body shop, and built other "distinctive" customs, including this Cad finned '56 Ford (done in 1958).

The blue and white Merc on the previous page belongs to Perry Siebert who built it himself. The 46 Merc belongs to Ted Aherns from Council Bluffs Iowa. It has been at most if not all the KKOA shows in Salina. It wears a different paint job now. As far as the Hychko car, I believe it was srusting away in a junkyard down south as a member of the HAMB had seen it. But that's been a few years ago.

  13. I got 6-8 photo albums from Stoney Taylor's wife a few weeks ago. I will have to let you go through them and scan some pics. Lots of early KKOA stuff.

I don't know, but I heard that this Stude is also now rusting away in a field.
    I hope it's not true!
EDIT: Car is safe and sound!

I don`t know where the pic was taken but the 64 Chevy that Maverick Daddy posted was once owned by Robin Saylor(Sailor ?) from Des Moines Iowa in the 90`s. The 54 Chevy grille and the paint job makes it easy to identify. I think it used to have flipper hubcaps. The orange stude that's chopped, Jim Wilkins in Ohio had one very similar in the 90`s. It was also chopped and was in primer and had red paint highlighted on the side of the car. Jim Wilkins used to own the sectioned 51 Ford called Lil Miss Vicky. Sorry I`m computer stupid, or I`d post pics of all the cars I`ve spoke about on this page. The candy red Merc is owned by Carol Enfield from North Bend Nebraska. The town I think is right. If you read the licence plate it says HER MERC. Her husband shows the car all around Nebraska and the surrounding states. Her husbands name is Al, a lot of people call him Carol because that's how he fills in the show card that goes in the window. It usually has lake pipes on it, they are either missing or are buried in the grass.
