That car has a long history. Originally built by the famous drag racing Pisano Bros, it was later bought by Herb Ogden and restyled by Barris. It has since been best known as the Herb Ogden Buick.

(EDIT: ) BARRY Massa (o_O) bought it in the 1980's, and retro-restyled it to its present appearance. It is now in Kirk McCormick's collection.

I saw the car in the 1980's, before restoration, at a small indoor car show, being totally ignored. (Customs were definitely out then). It was in grey primer, had cracked leather seats and original Gaylord top, tunneled '59 Caddy tail lights, and a 396 Chevy with 671 blower and dual quads.

    Yep, quite a history!

  6. Perhaps not completely Hamb friendly, it seems to be an 80s build, but are there any other pics of this??

That would be Roger Jetters car. He poster a pic a couple pages back but it got deleted because of the color and the 80`s build style. Maybe someone can post of a of it when he first bought it. A 60`s build style with goldish brown paint.

That is the Don Gadosz Chevy.
There was a recent thread that featured this car, but you'll have to do your own research. Suffice to say, it has a LONG history, including AMT model car "Styline" kit inspiration.

  9. Stan, I think you and Mo' are both right, but I think there is a twist here. Roger and Dan Jetter each had a '57 Chevy a few years back. One is the Hint of Mint, and the other was Street Sneaker. If I'm not mistaken, the car pictured in Manny Ks post above (#757) is the Hint of Mint before it was painted, and it was called Street Sneaker at the time. This may have been before the other '57 was around. The second '57 was a two-door sedan, that was eventually named Street Sneaker. I'm sure Roger will chime in and set the record straight.

They might not be HAMB friendly, but they each had a ton of work in them, and seeing them on the street way back when was always a treat!

If any of you guys have an extensive magazine collection (I think we all do), both cars were featured together in Custom Rodder in the Summer 1993 issue. Fun to go back in time and look at what was going on back then. E

  10. Sorry Manny, I meant to add this to my post above. Rik Hoving's Custom Car Chronicle had a great write up on the history of the car. I put the link below. Mo' is right about the history of this car. She has made the rounds. Alot of the content in this article I've never seen before. Great stuff!

Like it or not, the Hint of Mint is a survivor, and I for one am glad it's still around! E

  11. Even though that 57 is a survivor, I have to say I'm not a fan of the body colored grill

This picture just appeared on another thread, as the HoM appears in a new Bob Larivee book, "Show Car Dreams".
Like was said, this car has quite a long history.

Lets talk Roger into restoring the car to that configuration. It was called Hint of Mint back then to. Minus the chrome on the suspension. A few years back, I gave him a copy of 1001 Custom And Rods Ideas magazine which had the above version on the cover.

I have a better idea Stan...let's have someone step up with some cash, buy the car and talk them into restoring it to its original configuration...I've owned it for 31 years...I've had my fun and it's time for someone else to own it...

I'm past owning it and onto building (and driving) other kustoms...see you in Indy...???

  23. Bringing this thread back up with a question, any more pics of this. I'm thinking Chevy roof on a shoebox body? Shoebox sides on a Chevy body? New build? Old build? ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1429496439.091006.jpg
