Kool side by side comparison. Hard to believe that something so ugly stock can end up so kool as a Kustom. If some one ask why Kustom? This is a Purrfect example.

  4. It's hard to believe they could design such a beautiful car and then stick that turd of a top on it. Especially when you look at what they did with the Ford's of the same years which were considered a lower level model. But Sam sure knocked it out of the park with his "redesign".

Here's a factor custom, not sure if it qualifies being spelled with a "K" , that cost $250,000 to build then gets turned into a George Barris " TV custom " after he buys it from Ford for a $1.00 ....yes the original Bat mobile , not sure if was better before or after,.....[IMG][IMG]

The Futura also was featured in the 1956 Debbie Reynolds movie, It Started With A Kiss.

  23. One interesting detail I hadn't noticed before.... That's a '58 Edsel column/wheel and Gene re-tasked the shifter wiring to operate the custom gauges in the center of the wheel. Clever!

This is a shot of a section of the story about the Idols discovery and restoration that I posted pics from earlier.... Steve your post brought this part of the story to my attention....is it saying the original gauge and TV setup was fake or am I just reading it wrong???[IMG]
