Herb Gary built 57 olds

 

another Herb Gary Olds, I've been looking for this one for YEARS!!!

 

Never saw or heard of the Herb Gary Olds before but I love it. I'm a fan of big scoop airplane styled front ends. That Herb Gary Olds front end reminds me of The Polynesian Olds

 

Speaking of The Polynesian Olds, here's an interesting picture I found of it. Looks like a contact card

Here is the original Polynesian as it looked during last year's Rodder's Journal Revival.

 

That purple really pops on the Restored Polynesian. In All the older pictures it looked more red

 

I was flipping through my copy of Rod and Custom 1963 and saw this

Im not belittling, I just remember seeing this car in the late 80s, early ninetys. damn, give me a break!!! no harm no foul man! SORRY.

 

Thank you, I was also just making an observation. I'm pretty sure thats not what it looked like in '65.

 

I just want to know how saying something is from the '80s belittled it? My wife is from the '80s, so should she be offended ?

 

Just for clarity, this photo from Rikster's shows how the car looked in the sixties.



As an interesting side note, I believe that a custom rear for AMT's vintage "Styline" '57 Chevy model was patterned after a later version of this car.

 

I would love to see it put back in this version, but it is what it is. Its cool either way.

The '60s version is superior, and better fits this forum. But I'm glad it is still on the road, nonetheless.

 

Hey Roger, I saw your 57 at good guys many years ago in Colorado Springs, I found a pictured I had taken of it the other day, of the thousands of cars there yours was the one I took a picture of. It knocked my socks off ! It's different and that's what works for me !!

 

In all fairness, the color it is painted now is very close to one of the many colors it was painted during its ever changing look during the 60's....

It always amazes me that you can make even my car look good Dan! Hopefully you will be proud of me this year and it will need waaaaay less photoshopping than usual….assuming I get it back together in time for the SK and Indy.

 

I so can't wait Dr. Dave. More so because we can hopefully pose it somewhere.
