Agreed with above comment. Question for @demmel Judging from the hood treatment on the red NYC Coliseum 1951 Merc, shot in 1976, and the next dark (black?) Flemington NJ LeadEast pic from 1983, Are they the same car?

 

Don't see many of these customized.

 

I'm digging the photo of the black '55 getting flamed. Check out
the haircut, what we called a "Hollywood" when I was a kid.

We or rather our parents called them DA short for Ducks Ass. "Son you look like you got a DA on the back of your head now head BACK to the barber shop and get a real haircut"
