what's a Fregate?
your car is much nicer than the one in the film
Thank you for the compliment
Yeah, that's what I was thinking and afraid of. Mine is a Transfluide and the trans sits lower than the regular transmission, I can't get it any lower than what it already is because of those nasty speed bumps.
Wow, I never thought I would read 18 pages of a thread so quickly. Your work ethic makes me feel like a bum, so I guess I need to pick up the pace, rain or shine. Great build, very inspirational, and such talent!
I've read this thread twice. It is a fun read and great to see the transformation.
Dig the video. Ah, the old screwdriver stethoscope trick. Works good for electric motor bearings too.
Hello guys, i wanna finish my car for the September 4, to celebrate my first post here!....i am stuck with the rear wheels, so i have deceided to feet 16 tires on the 400 vintage wheel size, with 15.75 portawalls, reduce the 16" moondiscs......, anyway, a lot of brain storming for nothing special.....
Bye bye old rear tires......
And the result is ok, but it's very low, but it's cool
Tomorrow, i gonna take a litte ride to see if everything woks fine......
I like it looks cool
In 1 week, i going to receive all the stuff for the scallops, clear, maskin blue tape, pinstriping paint, and flakes......by the way, i have change a little bit about "tropy cali" color by Roth......i share with you my new metal flake choice.....
That's going to look really good!!!
This build personifies the old tale of the ugly duckling growing into the magnificent beautiful swan! You can be extremely proud of what you have built, it is super cool!
How funny... In profile, it looks like a miniature 1947-52 Studebaker sedan!
Man this is one of the coolest threads I've seen in a while, brilliant work!
I agree, this is bloody inspirational stuff. Have read this thread twice now, Rat is "the man".
Thank you guys for your comments
I have drive the car, i need to fix some little trouble, but the car ran well......two pics for the global lookin', after 30 month on the little park, i'm enjoy to see Renault on the road.... My Fregate is alive! I'm happy
Next step : Scallops paint job, and chicks on the hood.....i swear, i take pictures at this moment
Just love this thread, amazing!!
Awesome work! I love it!
Fine.... just fine.
Now what the hell we gonna ogle over ?
Oh yeah..... we need picks of the parcel girl !
Order some parts for it! .... Gotta have dice on the inside mirror.... and curb feelers. Don't forget the skull valve stem caps. Yeah... order them one at a time .... more trips by the parcel girl, more pics for us !
I really admire the work you have done..... proof that turds can in fact be polished !!! (Yeah, I know... Mythbusters already proved it)
Rat... ya done good boy !
no skull valves or lucky dice, but i have received guide magnet.....delivered by a parcel guy....
I continue the job, i have buy doors seals......
And of course, trunk seal....
The trunk close well....
This just gets better all the time. I hope you come to UK supernats next year so that I can shake your hand
Parcel guy? What a disappointment. But it is looking very good!
The problem is how can i have rear light, turn light and stop light with only 1 bulb?......damned, i'm in 6V, and the original turn light flasher (name Stopindic) doesn't work with modern leds......and i don't want to put old 6V lamp bulb because they are not enough flashy, and i think someone risk to crash the rear of the car with that too old vintage lights......so, i have deceided to buy a new modern turn light flasher, and remind the concept....i need 3 lights source.....so i have buy 10 leds.......
It's rotten home made, and sometimes i do shit, but it's ok, there is no bulb heat and the polystyrene is ok to keep the 5 leds in place, no fire risk... (the center led is on the original 59 caddy light support). The center light is for the light and the stop, 5 stars leds for the turn signal.....
Pict under the sun, i can turn safely!
And the front turn light flash too.....i have finish the electricity, phew....
Ha! And no need to paint a reflector!
I love the car!
Love the ingenuity! Bravo!
Did you get the original flasher to work? If not, I suggest adding a 5 watt, 100 ohm resistor from the positive side to the negative side of the wires that power the directionals. You might have to play with the resistance value to get the timing right.
Sorry, I just re read the part about buying a new flasher! Great looking car buy the way!
