History Klondike Dragway in Pensacola

Do any Pensacola area Hambers remember The Klondike dragway in Pensacola ? I did a search on it and found nothing It's off of Klondike road near Pine forest road,just wondering if anyone on here had any pics or stories about it.Here's a map of the location.http://wikimapia.org/23130221/Former-Klondike-Drag-Strip

 

I have a few friends that remember it and many more... They might have some pics.

 

Moving this week-end to Freeport, Florida would like to fine a small local drag strip that I can hang around on the week-ends!

 

Must admit I have never heard of Klondike Dragway. Where is Freeport, Florida?

East end of Choctawhatchee Bay, small.

 

Nearest one I'm aware of is in Atmore, Al., used to be one in Holt.

 

drag on it in the late 60's before it was closed. if you know where it was you can still see some of the track in the cow pasture. a guy here has restored a dodge with a 413 with 2 4 barrel that ran on the track .. the one in baker fla closed about 4 yrs after klondike

 

It's behind Vanoy Tires old Building on Klondike Rd....a friend of mine used to rent that shop to build and keep up his late model race cars....if you walked out the north door and went North West about 150 feet you could see the remains of the track in the pine trees and field.....their is a man in Loxley, Al that had a '32 Ford that won one of the track championships...all doors were molded in .........it was neat to look at...haven't seen it in 10 years or so...

 

there is a drag strip on the north side of I-10 just east of Pensacola. I think it is 1/8th mile

 

Emerald Coast Dragway about 28 miles east of Pensacola and about 14 miles west of Crestview it runs right next to the westbound lane of I 10.

 

That's the closed one in Holt.

Built and tune clutches on a outlaw promod and ran a outlaw 10.5/radial car at that track. It's closed now.
