    Lookin like a snow plow!

  2. Those front fenders look bloody awesome too and hasn't put the proportions out at all. One has to adore super low cars and we may just have to name you the " Ron Gubb " of the far north.;);).
Hope you will post a photo or two of the T Roadster frame you are building and it is always good to hear of another T joining the ranks here in NZ.

I put a 12" rule under the grill on the flat and couldn't stand it on edge.

Well team, it has been a while but we have made it to the next hurdle.....and jumped it!
We launched the boat on Monday morning at 8 am, after loading and transporting to the harbors edge on Sunday.
The newspaper was there to catch it all go down to.

We had an interesting trip up the coast, to say the least. 30 plus year old seals letting us down. One in the hydraulic steering and one on the engine cooling circuit. Not much different to a hotrod with teething problems I suppose.
A little down time now while waiting for some out work to be completed.
We have had nothing but great responses from all that have seen her.
The sailing side of things have been working perfectly, so once the engineering challenges have been sorted we will be back to it soon.

With easter upon us and the "off season" fast approaching I may even get back into the workshop! My boy has been busy on his project and other jobs that popped up. I can see about a weeks worth of work just cleaning up the shop before I start.

Now that the weather has cooled off a bit I had a day in the workshop. I spent some time tidying up a space to bring home another addition to the shop equipment list. I will post pictures soon.

Today we picked up and then reassembled the lathe that my father had in his workshop for the last 30 years. Now we need to level it and bolt it down to the floor. It will be great to just walk across the room, not drive across town to machine parts.[IMG]

I had an interesting conversation a couple of weeks ago. My son and I went to a race meeting at Hampton downs track. The meeting was a celebration of 50 years of the Ford Escort (we pulled the engine out of mine 2 days prior due to a bearing issue.). While we were there I spoke to a guy racing and XJ Jag. He had made minimal changes apart from lowered suspension. The one change that did interest me was the change to outboard discs from a later model Jag. He mentioned that only minor engineering was needed to achieve this. Advantages include better cooling of the discs and less heat transfer to the seals of the diff head output shafts.
Has anyone had experience with this parts swap?

Cool score. It will be good to see it in the car and closer to being road worthy.

Talking with a mate the other day and he mentioned a deceased estate a friend is sorting out. A bunch of cars and parts need to find new homes and caregivers. One of those was a sbc with an oxygen enhancing compressor sitting atop. For now it is a lucky dip engine but will do for setting up and making firewall etc.
I jumped on the opportunity and dropped it between the rails for storage in the meantime.

That is going to be one fine ride when it's done. I'm sure your having a blast building it.

Cheers mate. It has been fun so far. I have had a bit of a break but am getting back to work now. Taking to a friend's panel shop for a bit of a boost in productivity since I am between workshops at the moment. Stand by for some more regular updates.......

A little earlier in this thread I made mention of my sons project car. He still has it, but has changed engine so the manifold won't be used! He now has a quad cam Ford probe/Mazda capella V6 engine in it. Normally an east/west configuration he has turned it north/south and mated to an rx8 box with an adaptor plate he manufactured while still at school, along with a narrowed falcon diff using skyline axles to keep 4 studs.
Unsurprisingly my son is now a vehicle assembly technician working for Rocket lab here in NZ, building rockets to carry payloads into orbit and beyond! He is still working on the car when time allows.

I picked up some wheels to set up my car on while we work on the next stage.

IMG_20201019_124841.jpg Received today from C W Moss and Bob Drake, a door hinge kit and body mount hardware. Impressive considering I only ordered on Tuesday last week!
I also had a dig in a box to find a column boss and wheel I bought in LA in 1994 that fit perfectly on a column I bought when I got the blown sbc last week. The column is from a 77 olds starfire, with tilt, turn signal and horn but no provision for ignition barrel or lock etc, so nice and clean looking, just the way I like it. I might just have to make another wheel for this car too!

Nothing cooler than receiving parts ! I haven't thought about C.W. Moss for a long time. Used to see their ads in magazines but since the internet I lost track of them. Glad to see they are still around. I haven't accepted all the changes the internet has brought very well. It has some good but also lots of confusion.
