When I moved to Austin in '05, the one thing that kinda bummed me out was that I hadn't had a chance to go to the Grand National Roadster Show yet. And, I told myself that if I ever moved back to SoCal, I'd be sure to go.
Well, I moved back, and I dragged my Wife and Daughter Maggie, with me, and I went to fuckin' Grand National Roadster Show like:

I'm assuming, since it seemed like the whole world was there, that everyone knows what the GNRS is all about... But in case some of you haven't been or were on the fence... My .02.
This show is nuts... $30 a person per day... And it's worth it.
Even my wife, who at this point in her life DGAF about some old cars, was blown away by the general quality of the cars there. The paint jobs... Depth, attention to detail... It really is an amazing experience...
If you can deal with a shit-ton of people... Which none of us are really all that good at.
But I took as many pictures as possible before my phone died... Here's my take.
This was Saturday which was pretty tough to get decent shots.... Sorry..

Looks like an Ozzie 35 Ford roadster utility found its way over there. I believe the yellow Ford RPU with 36 grill could be a phantom or is it another Ozzie car, later model cab with cowl wipers?

  19. Correct me if I’m wrong (and I might be) but I think I recognize that ‘35 ute. It was built by a guy named Dave Stands when he was living here in Washington state. Long story short he sold it to a guy in California. Until now I thought it was collecting dust.

  21. To miss the crowds you need to take Friday afternoon off work. Very small crowd compared to Saturday.

Yup he built it and owns it. His son Lou has been driving it lately

  24. It’s an original Australian roadster Ute Dave brought back here and built himself. He still owns it. Him and his son Lous who lives in So Cal swapped cars for a year.

Yeah, my plan was to go on Friday, but my wife wanted to go Sat.
If I go next year, it'll have to be on Friday.

I used to see that Ute at a lot of PNW events in the years right after he finished it. He drove the wheels off that thing as it didn't matter where you went he was there.

Great photos and a great look at the show Kilroy. Very much appreciated by those of us who didn't get to the show and we sure appreciate all the walking you did.

IMHO I think the best part of the show is the outside parking area. Thank you for posting, really neat pics!

What’s the story with this “thing”? Haven’t seen it in other posts...guess it slipped under the radar?

Yeah, that was frustrating... I walked all the way out to the end of the parking area, dragging my mostly reluctant daughter and right when I get there, my phone dies... So there were a ton of cool cars I didn't get shots of, unfortunately.
