Greg Brady's first car. I wonder if he let Marcia borrow it?

Thanks, Joe. It looks better in pictures than in real life. The paint is 30 years old!

  4. I'm gonna be the 1st to say Greg Brady was a ho-dad. Painted that ragtop then let it go. Duh.

Just lower it and run the caps that are on it. Bodywork a little at a time and black primer should blend into the dark blue.

Where you have rust, it looks to be coming thru behind a previous patch, might get messy in there.

Good looking car, consider just lowering and driving for a while, any body work that needs done now, will still need done in 10K miles.

I was reading this post and thinking, "that's funny, my friend just bought a '56 and wants to do something very similar to his"... Low and behold.... lol

  11. Lower it a bit and drive it, ideas come to you after a while of driving the car around.

Yeah a change in altitude is first on the list , been eyeing the Jamco coil springs and blocks. I've been driving this car all over today , its a joy.

So just a small update , I threw some borrowed rallys on the car to see how she looks. Not traditional, but definitely a tougher look.

imho can't go wrong with the rallys and the present 'attitude'. looks good. plus you got the 67 issue hub caps. much better choice than the later caps.

I'm not personally feeling the rallys and RWL tires. I feel like they look dated/tacky.

When I was in my early teens one of the "older guys" meaning in his mid 20's and havin a job in town had a slick jet black 56 two door post that was lowered all around but more in front and had sneaker plugs coming out behind the front wheels with moons and rings and narrow whitewalls (this was 1962) It also had a nice bit simple custom interior. He had a bored out 283 under the hood with a decent cam and it sounded as good as it looked. That car has stuck in my mind as one of the all time cool 56 Chevies on my list.
You don't have to go wild on one to have it look great and sometimes on those cars less is more.

56 was the best of the Tri-Fives.

I know it's not everybody's cup, but there's just something about a '56 minus the front bumper that blips the badass meter for me. Almost like they were designed for it.

    Good looking car.

I'd lower it, pop the hubcaps off and hang those in the garage, add center spiders and trim rings, and flip the tires. I'm just not a fan of skinny whitewalls. If you can swing it I would go with some wide whites and chrome steelies with center spiders.

Do those have a single piston master cylinder? I know my 52 did. I would upgrade that to a two piston for the safety aspect.

Cant help but have a soft spot for ralleys (I think they came out on tri fives didnt they?:D)but that just took a step further away from what you were going for. If you like it then fine but..........
