The first one in that batch, with the Alexander O.H. came off my press! The hood, roof insert and deck all match. It came out of a buddy's shop here in town about five years ago.

Its a small world Chip...So many of the things I find lead back to here...Any more pics of that one. All I found are others of it on a ramp truck not really doing it any visual justice. Great work again by the way.

Ya, those are the series of shots I shot of it. It was the first time it was out of the small shop at Don's, and the hurry was on to get it to L.A. for it's date at Suede Palace at GNRS. It was all hands on deck that morning, and at the last second i remembered I had my camera with.

Unfortunately, the owner's trusted friend who was driving the ramp truck and getting the car to and into the show had a serious heart attack later that day as he rolled into Pamona, and the car's GNRS debut was delayed one year.

Here it is the next year. That "Pissed off Santa Claus" lookin' dude is the builder, my buddy Don Marks.

Thanks for adding those pics and story Chip...full fledged contingent of louvers on that Hotrod. Looks to be a fine gathering of vintage tin.

Ahhh the love hate relationship...halfway there...no pain no gain...;)

Just reduced me to cave man status. It filled the page and all I could do was let out a deep grunt of approval.

I know nothing of this car so before I judge I do some snooping and find out it is connected to North America. So 50 your a veteran of design and living the HAMB period...and these things no doubt had influence in racing, hotrod and custom design. Perhaps you spent time at the track soaking this popular sport in. I guess it would have raced against many cars including Vettes and T-birds.
I am not sure when those swoopy head supports came in but a hotrod posted back a bit in the thread has a similar head support.
Don't know much about the hotrod I'm referring to either but Baval says it is from back in the mid 50s...http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/different-bonneville-07-pics.201602/#post-2161964

About the Veritas sports racing car...
This vehicle is a 1949 BMW Veritas Rennsport, of which, thirty examples were produced. The engine is a 1936 328 BMW six-cylinder unit that displaces 2000cc. The drivetrain and frame are also from a 1936 BMW 328. The body is constructed from aluminum and rests gently on a tubular frame.

The car was campaigned in Formula 1 by the Belgian racing team 'L'Ecurie - Belge' from 1949 through 1951. It was campaigned in the US from 1952 through 1962.

The original owner was Jacques Swaters and was driven by Emile Cornet.

I don't think I've ever seen a Veritas in the flesh. I saw pictures of them in a book that was given to me as a gift around 1952, and always thought that the "innie" louvers punched in large numbers in the front fenders were cool looking. I did know that they were based on prewar BMW components.

This was Hamber Scruff's old car. I spent a lot of my youth cruisin around in that car. He is a big mag reader and I believe was inspired by a sixties custom Nomad and executed it on his ride. I remember him picking up the NOS grille at one of the local swap meets back in the 80s. Tons of work in the bumper as well. Yes it was a unique Chevy for sure
