Art & Inspiration Just Louvers////////

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Stogy, Aug 1, 2016.

  1. Kind of hard to see in this picture(thought I had a better one)but the top of this hood(opened in the pic)on a Model T touring speedster built by Richie Willet of Malden Massachusetts has a row of louvers that are individually cut by hand and taper down from very large to very small. Can't remember but I believe Paul Gamache did them and I think he made the grille and shell as well. RichiesTubFront.jpg

This car of Ritchie's is unbelievable- louvers, lightening holes and pinstriping everywhere ( even UNDER the car! He's a true craftsman, and his cars are top shelf.

Those racers were beautifully trimmed...definitely influenced the evolution of hotrod, custom and dare I say the Auto industry as we know it. Yeah thats an awesome car. Any full on shots...thanks Safari

  8. If Steve doesn't paint that SOB pretty soon, I'm going to go take it back!! Maybe Junior would paint it again for me, for free this time, like he did the Hirohata Merc. Hey, I can dream.

Sorry Dean didn't mean to touch a nerve......Lets just say years of going fast just blew the paint off...I'll just say it looks awesome while its transitioning to another kind of awesome louvers and all.

Remember it? A local friend of mine owned it until just a couple months ago! I happen to have a picture of the decklid from LARS a couple months ago... Well crap, I thought I did! turns out I shot a picture of Brian Bauer's car that was right next to it. I have a couple shots of it though and I'll dig it up tonight.

Pretty funny (coincidental, anyway) for me too: That weekend was a difficult one for us; my son and I brought my truck and flat towed the T, like this:
    LindsayDelMar06Cr.jpg
    Dave Lindsay photo
As it turned out, both the truck and the roadster broke, and I had to have both towed home to San Pedro. Dave Lindsay's photo, above, is the only picture I've ever seen of either car on that weekend, so I'm pleased to see your pictures for the first time.

  13. You didn't touch a nerve at all. I just never miss a chance to prod Steve to repaint it. He has done a masterful job on the restoration, so far. I know he's having a ball with the car while he's saving the money for paint and body work. It does my heart good to see the car being enjoyed, especially since the previous owner was so cruel to it.

Funny, strange weekend for me, too. That was the first time I had ever taken my then new to me girlfriend to a car show....Hell, it was the first time she had really put any road miles down in the Plymouth. She's from Hong Kong, and as I walked around taking pictures, she didn't "get" that I was taking pictures of the cars! See, in her hometown, pictures have no "soul" unless there is a person in it! So each time I'd frame a picture and get set up correctly, she'd run into the picture, pose, smile, and make the "V"d finger thing that Asian folks do in pictures. The pictures of your car are the first of that day that don't have her in them, and it was quite a rowe when I tried to explain that I was taking pictures of the CARS, not her... It was a very quite afternoon from then on. Until she got too close to a nitro funny car that was being prepped to cackle... But that's another story.

A little car that had a long H.A.M.B. history, that I was privileged to do a "re-fit"on a few years back. One of my decklids...

40 Fords and louvers are kind of like Willy's and drag racing...it seems natural.

Hey Babar make your pic full image...;)
