Art & Inspiration "Just an Old Ford"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jeff Norwell, Jul 2, 2011.

  1. Thanks Jeff, what an old beast. Super patina & spirit.
I wanna vouch for these big boys with a sorted small block too. Cruise all day highway speed, smooth & silent, just the burble, cost ya next to nothin' in gas. Make mine a convertible.

  2. Thank you so much for posting this. It gave me chills and brought a tear to my eye. Great way to start the day. ;)

I had a '63 with a 390, never should have sold that car. Bought it from an old lady for $100 and drove it home.

Add some more compression, some more stick, and 3" exhaust to that sound and you have this- and the 4000 converter and 5.14 gears make it a little more fun- where's that frikken Subaru???
Original paint 406-6V car with a 427 in it- nothing sounds like a good FE

Cool Cool Cool!!! I have almost pulled the trigger on a '64 purchase twice... Well once I actually did - Just moments too late! Ask JEEM about that one! Not a 427/4 gear though, that would be too much to hope for...

Great video, sweet car. There's another cool video on Youtube of a guy driving the tires off of a '64 Galaxie at the Nurburgring in Germany. Do a search for "1964 Ford Galaxie at the Nurburgring" and you'll see a couple of different videos, all good. This guy hits about 160mph on the back stretch, and the car sounds like a complete beast. Way cool.

  28. My Merc isn't as fast as todays cars, doesn't ride as nice, doesn't get as good of gas mileage,no air conditioning, hotter than hell in the summer, but I have NEVER seen another one on the road when I'm out driving it! I Love old cars....
My grandfather had that same car,but with a 390/4speed/duel carbs, and it ripped! I thought all cars should sound that way,so when I heard another car that purred,I would think "what's wrong with it?". My grandpa would take me for a ride and say, "grab on to something". I would put my feet against the dash and hold onto the windwing post, cause there wasn't anything else to grab. There was a street called Randolph by us that parrelled the RR tracks. He would go through all 4 gears with me yelling as loud as I could, haha! He sure was cool in that car!
