Finally made it to the Springfield swap meet. Traveling through northern arkansas I was ashamed about how people leave their crap and junk sitting within sight of the highway.
my neighbor hates it too I haven't been up in that part of the state in a while, but there used to be a place near Harrison, and another up close to Mt Home that had quite a bit of neat old stuff...
Why those cars are just waiting for their twice yearly trip to the MOTAA Swap Meet on Petit Jean Mountain to overpriced and taken home and set back on the roadside.
I seen a junk yard off the intersate in arkansas; bunch of 50's-60's cars all looked pretty rough, but I exited and went back to take a look anyway. turned out to be a bowling alley
HAHA^. Half of the punks on here won't have a clue what that means. I can still hear my old man grumbling about having to paint the mailbox. In her defense,I'll be glad to go down there and clean up some of that junk.
Ah yes the beautify America program! I had probably 20 cars sitting at my Dads place, (out of town). They came by and told Dad they had to go or put a regulation salvage fence up. I was in the Army at the time. he wrote me and told me they had to go. I said, do what you have to do. My buddies all came by and took a lot of them to help me out!! rest went to junk. All, good 2dr hdtp and sedan 55-57 chevs , a nice 57 olds 2dr hdtp. 57 buick roadmaster hdtp, 49 anglia, ect... I got back home and went to my one friend and asked if I could buy the 55 hdtp chev back Dad gave him?..........nope.
every year going up hwy 411 on the way to Pigeon Forge Tennessee all the yard art has a new FOR SALE sign on it.
Hey! Do you have that "Adopt A Road" thing over there? You know, where you pick a section of road and volunteer to pick up the trash along that stretch of road... Go for it!
As I child I remember seeing the old cars being hauled off for scrap, flattened and stacked about 4-5 high on flat beds at the annual parade. My dad blamed on Lady Bird and her "Beautification" program or whatever it was called.
