so we just go back and my photos are slowly uploading to webshots here,,, http://rides.webshots.com/album/572716473QunQRL and here,,, http://rides.webshots.com/album/572742492BruEng but here's a pic of the jungle jim car,,, as the rest of the cars are probably mostly O/T,,,
I'm uploading the day's worth pf photos to webshots,,, jungle jims car is in a couple different sections the first was photo 173,,, and unfortunately webshots is sloww to upload tonite,,, on #45 of almost 500 so check back there later,,, otherwise the new track is awesome,,, we walked the quarter mile stip at the end of the night,,, my kids thought it was funny that their shoes stuck to the track,,, nothing like the smell of burning rubber and fuel to make your weekend worthwhile,,, xoxox miss hootch
HA! we did not get sunburned at all,,,, despite our pastyness,,, and 7 hours at the track,,, sunblock is your friend you know,,, here a couple of Bob Motz for you locomotive breath,,,, he was my daughters favorite as well,,, xoxoxo hootch
all the pics are up now,,, and i added the second album link above,,, Dallas Raceway was 1st class for sure,,, xoxox hootch
It's a tribute car built with all new parts. Here's a video of the very first 60' shakedown pass at San Antonio Raceway. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=57349912
Wow..someone is finally calling it a tribute car after it was paraded around like it actually had pedigree for years. I know where that car came from, what it was, and what it was sold as before it ever went to Texas... Lies Lies Lies. And yes, Pam does laugh about it. I try not to bring it up, but someone always does. Of all the things that car could have become, they just had to pick Jungle Jim.... RIP Jim, some of us know the truth. Spike
it was funny how it ws called both the original and reproduction car in alternating sentences,,,i don't think though,, that there was any intention of passing it off as something it wasn't,,, either way it was fun to watch and yes it made a full pass,,, now the guy with the jet bike,,,the guiness world record holder,,,was all about putting on a show,,,and acting a clown,,, there was a top fuel run of 300mph,, and with the variety of classes the IHRA ran,, it was a good way to spend the day,,, much better thatn watching TV or playing on the computer anyway,,,, xoxox hootch
That is actually the second Texas Jungle Racing F/C (the first one that was built using an old mini-camaro body was in the NHRA hall of fame museum most of last year, and now it sits Honest Charlie's speed shop show room), this F/C was built to race, and is built to current NHRA nostalgia nitro F/C specs (the body on this one was made new from a mold taken from the first old mini-camaro body). As to why it became a Jungle Jim F/C, well the owner is a huge JJ fan.
Agreed, I like the variety of the IHRA. You get to see things that the NHRA banned. Like 1/4 mile Top Fuel racing, 215 mph Jet Trucks, 800+ cubic inch Pro Stocks, etc.
