Front wheels look like stock T wood wheels, rear wheels and rear may be stock Model T from 1926-27. Bob

The fronts wheels are typical 21” wood spoke wheels, standard equipment on ‘26 open cars. Rear wheels are T wires

Thanks guys, I wondered if they may be wooden spoked wheels, not a common choice now but I'm sure it was more likely back in the period

  4. With a "V-8" pressure plate and clutch, on a B flywheel and motor, how much sepration should you get with the pedal fully pressed? I have the 1" of play in the pedal before the throw out touches the fingers, but with the pedal all the way to the floor the clutch still is engaged. My first time putting one together. It all worked before I swapped the motor, added a lightened B flywheel and a v-8 Clutch (bought from Brattons) . It seems to require a huge movement of the throwout, once it contacts the fingers, compared to the amount the pressure plate moves away form the clutch.

Don't worry about how much the throwout bearing moves- all that matters is that you have some clearance (freeplay) between the throw out bearing and the clutch fingers when the clutch pedal is not depressed . How much are the clutch fingers currently being depressed when you push the clutch pedal?

  6. I adjusted the clutch pedal all the way out to where it is bottoming out the fingers and with the trans in gear it is still turning the wheels hard. With the ebrake on the motor won't turn over with the clutch all the way in if its in gear. I am going to pull it this weekend and check it out. I did something wrong. I will post what I find.

OK- something is going on then. Are you sure that you put the disc in correctly? One side should have been marked flywheel side.............. good luck!! Just installed one and when the cover bolts were tightened, the fingers moved down from contact with the cover sheetmetal about 1/4".

  8. Yesterday I met up with the boys from H&H to check out their Riley engine. I managed to get some awesome shots, for my historical video on George Riley! Stay tuned ;)

  9. 90% sure it was this shim. I transferred over the pilot bearing that was in the car as it was like new. The shim was in it. When it was assembled the shim was backwards, It must be tappered because when I took it apart it was jammed on the shaft and stuck out almost 1/4". I pryed it off and is slides on smooth one way but not the other. Pretty sure the shim was jammed against the flywheel and did not let the pilot shaft spin in the bearing. Fortunately I have a B trans in parts under the bench. Will swap out for a shaft that doesn't need the shim.

I've back into working on my banger recently, currently building a tubular header to complement my downdraft intake. Awhile back I picked up a B distributor but have not had a chance to install it. Sure would like to find a aftermarket head to install.

  11. Welp, decided to do another historical video! Let me know what you guys think! I'm thinking of doing a video on the RaMar head next..

  12. OK I am missing something. I am putting my B motor and transmission in fo rthe third time and for the life of me I can't get the trans an torque tube to line up. Got it with a bit of trouble the first two times. first clam shell doesnt want to line up with the bolts and I am trying to not loose fingers getting the universal to line up on the trans shaft. Got to be an easier way to do this?

Have a friend gently turn the crank as you guide the engine/trans into the torquetube.

  15. Aw hell! Now I got to be nice to people and make a friend? I have a grandson on order, supposed to deliver in January, but I imagine it will take 5 or 6 years just to get him to "fetch Grampy a beer" status.

I think I just need to play with the transmission alignment more. Damn motor leans to the drivers side on the hoist.

I cut the heads off some longer bolts..same diameter and thread of the fasteners in the housing, to use for 'alignment pins' to guide it together and support it whilst ff with it...
    Good luck

  18. There are days where I should not be allowed around tools.

So basiclly I was not paying attention to the way I had put it together the first time. This time the universal and clamshell stayed on the driveshaft when I took it apart.... so that is how I tried to put it together, with the universal in the torque tube. Damned near impossible. I finally remembered the universal slides on both shafts and is small. Pulled the motor out again, puth the universal and first clam shell on the transmission. Now it should go together easy. What a Maroon!

The joint has a bolt that holds it to the output of the transmission. You installed that too, right?

Pretty sure. All the V8’s did, and they use the same joint and mount.

Definitely need the bolt to hold main shaft in proper location without end play. Synchro will not work properly if the main shaft is allowed to float with excessive end play.

  23. Where do I get the bolt? It did not have one on it that I recall (edit- 3rd gen and Vanpelt carry it)

The big heavy washer is probably more of a specialty item than the bolt itself.

  25. Amazing what a prior owner can leave off on a car...

  27. WINNER! found this on the floor.... Head of the bolt is beat up and the hole in the washer is oval. I will wait for the new one to show up. Thanks!

Good job. It is often quite a challenge to find runaway hardware on my shop floor, due mostly to the generally constant decrease in visible concrete, haha. Every year the first job in early winter when it gets too cool to work comfortably outside is to re-establish my view of the shop floor.

It seems the stromberg 81's are the most popular for banger applications; currently those are out of my budget so plan on running a holley 94.
Any real world advice for me?
