This type of cars, Ford and Chevrolet of the 1930s-40s was involved in a competition called "Turismo Carretera"

"Turismo Carretera is a popular car racing series in Argentina, and the oldest car racing series still active in the world, featuring stock cars in the manner of American NASCAR series."-wikipedia.

The Torino 380W raced the 84 hours of Nurburgring in 1968, the Torino was one of the most popular cars in Argentina.

KILLER! Gracias Amigo! Sorry for my Spanish. Thanks! Slim

  5. Gracias para los vistas fantasticas! (y escuse mui Espanol malo)

Fangio was one of my childhood heros and it's great to see such a tribute to a world champion.

For those of you HAMBers who don't know what a Torino is, it's an Argentinian car based on the mid-'60s Rambler American, which if my memory is correct, was built by IKA, Industria Kaiser de Argentina, who also built Kaisers (called a Carabela) until the early '60s using the old US plant. I always thought they were pretty cool.

    Mucha gente habla español ! ! ! !

Acá en Argentina al Torino se lo llama "el auto Argentino" debido a una gran mentira instalada cuando lo presentaron.
Hasta la llegada de Internet casi nadie sabía que el Torino era en realidad un Rambler de USA.

Those cars covered in mud are great. They must represent the races run over the Andes we talked about a few months ago.

An all time great, one of my first hero's when I first got interested in motorsports back in the mid fifties. Glad to see the history so well preserved. Really enjoyed the pics, thanks for posting.

l was fortunate to be able to do some metalwork on his Alfa Romeo. It was in a new owners hands when I worked on it.

He was given an Alfa Romeo 1900 for winning the 1951 formula one world championship.

Here it is at pebble beach.

CHE boludo, gracias por las fotos, son fantasticas!

Don't forget, Fangio also raced a 1957 Corvette!

I remember as a toddler in Buenos Aires playing with little cars and pretending I was Fangio. He is a true legend.

The '57 vette I restored is now living the good life in the South of France.

I'm currently building my first street rod, a '30 Model A Sport Coupe.

I would argue that Fangio was the best ever. He raced in a time when several drivers a year were killed. No seat belts and polo helmets, hows that for safety? Yet he dominated year after year.

Thanks for the photos. I really want to visit someday myself. :)
