Hey John, it was good to meet up with you and talk for a few minutes while I was out at the Veterans Golden Age Games. The car looks sweet. Hopefully you can make it to the "Dover Dragstrip Nostalgia Drags in August.

Not wanting to hijack the post, But I hear that Jim Oddy's 36 Chevy coupe gasser is now on the street in the Olean, area. A friend of mine in Pa. bought the coupe from Jim Oddy back in the early 70's,put it on the street with a 4-71 blown small block and did that street rod thing for a few years. He sold the car to a guy in the pittsburg area who completed the street rod bit(must.ll,velour int. etc. etc.) my buddy called the guy who bought the coupe from him last week, and he told him it was in Olean, painted red and still on the street.

Thats Ok I have talked to Jimmy about this car. He sold it to a guy that runs a PA dragstrip called Loweville his name is Lucky and Jim Told me the car BURNED . Now last year I was at a garage here in Buffalo & a buddy of mine said that Lucky has Jimmys old car & he said it Burned I said that is correct. So as far as I know Lucky still has the car . see if you can get a photo & PM me . It would be interesting to see it. Thanks Trouble

There was a fire at Lucky's dragstrip a couple of years ago,but He hasn't owned that coupe for a long time. There were a couple of race cars in the building, but the 36 was not one of them.I have some pictures of the car when my friend owned it,as a street rod.Now that you mentioned it,my buddy may have bought the coupe from Lucky Foley, not directly from Jim Oddy.I traveled many miles in the coupe, street rod nats. east at timonium, nats at memphis, cumberland MD. york street rod nats east.etc.etc.

Here are a couple of pics I hope I can figure out how to enter them. The first one is from wattsburg(loweville)around 1964? the others are while it was being street rodded, early 70's. The blown engine being installed in the construction picture came from an altered roadster that raced at Sunset drag strip. I currently have that blower set up to go on my T- bucket.

I am very familiar with the Oddy 36 coupe.I used to go to wattsburg every sunday, and Jim would flat tow the coupe to the strip. It had6 carbs on it at one time I believe, and then injection.I am from meadville, and I helped the owner of the coupe remove the roll bar because it was transmitting noise into the interior.I also helped install the dropped stainless steel tube front axle, built by a fellow rodder who worked at GE in Erie. The coupe was the light metallic blue when my buddy got it,we used a belt sander to strip the body, and he painted it the dark blue with black fenders. by the way,the picture with the young lady in the window was also taken at wattsburg(loweville)
