mine was used to haul rocks around a Nevada farm for decades....maybe that didn't help![/quote] MMM! could have something to do with it!
a little update....mocking up the taillights. i plan on making a nice little peak to shroud round the top of them.
i was supposed to be working on it all this week...... but being the idiot i'am i went out with a mate and got very drunk. fell over. broke my arm quite badly so i cant do anything on the car now for 6/8 weeks.
1960 boat gauges....i have a pretty cool plan for the dash and i think a 59 / 60 Impala steering wheel will go nicely with these...the design of the spokes are kinda similar to the gauge detail and the 4 holes/horn push in the steering wheel echo the 5 gauges.
Man I'm lovin this build, thanks for taking the time to share it with us! Keep up the progress spring is right around the corner! John
Jick,I really DIG those taillights, I was gonna use Chevy ones myself, but my Brother in law had a set of Pontiac ones at the right price,so I went the easy route!I like the look of those boat gauges too, it's gonna look HOT once you're done! Nick.
a little update.....no real progress on the actual car at the moment but the parts collection is growing nicely......i'm hoping to get it rolling by the end of the summer. the new additions are : 4" dropped original model A front axle split Model A wishbone...ready for chroming 48 rear radius rods.....virtually NOS f1 steering box 47 Ford rear shock mounts 40 ford rear end, torque tube & rebuilt brakes NOS in the box 36 chrysler trunk hinges. thats about it so far, hopefully i'll be able to make some time soon and start glueing it together.
Jick, The parts stash sounds Spot-on! It's FUN glueing things together, but PLEASE make sure that you have a responsable adult on hand if you're using scissors!!!!! Jick, Have you seen the Limeys of the H.A.M.B. Social group yet? Later Man, Nick.
shit...i dont think i know any responsible adults. i haven't seen the limey group,i'll check it out, i've not been on here much recently.....working almost 24/7 at the moment! cheers...jick
Very nice! What motor? Buick/Rover Stroked 215, 4.0 litre? That's a sweet motor and I'm guessing there are a few laying around over there?
i've got a '53 ford flathead going in it...i'm trying to get it pretty much period correct late 50's early 60's.
Great looking start on your hotrod....... I just sold a 33 pickup to a guy in australia and getting things setup to ship it to him. I admire you guys you have to really want a hotrod... It is alot harder for you to get a car and some of the parts you use.
Jick, looks like a sweet build. I'm building one myself and I'm pretty much at the same stage. Good luck and enjoy the build!
unfortunately i've just been too busy this year to get much done, bought a new (old) house back in march that had been a hostel for the homeless for 20 years....so it's not very nice inside to say the least!)..... but the parts stash is growing slowly but surely. also i just have to finish my '59 vw 2332cc gasser first.
i know its a VW, but its gonna be running some pretty cool front wheels and should run mid 11's on the strip (if i can drive it properly!)
my cars are stored about a 2 hour drive from me, so its tough finding the time to get shit done.....but its a nice place to visit!
well I suppose a little update is in order....to be honest not a lot of real progress on the car.....but the parts stash is growing....im going down to my workshop for 10 days in early august so i make a little headway. trunk before and after a little hammer work....
both doors and gas tank straightened out and primed....i've been working on these smaller pieces in the evenings back home in London in my garden shed! dont worry...the machine screws holding the gauges are just to get the right position, now i can weld some studs on instead....rev counter is getting grafted into an original Model A gauge panel.
got the rear end back into shape and braced up so now the panel gaps are nice and even and less than a mile wide!
