Never saw that front end pic before. I'm planning a similar '55 Ford grille for my '52.

I contacted him, and he said he didn't remember, but would check his notes or call Jerry. I just haven't heard back from him after that.

Any '55 Ford car except Thunderbird will have that grille. Looks like this one had the ends trimmed off where they would have went behind the '55 parking lights. That's how I'm doing mine as well. No idea what his grille opening trim is from though, mine still has round parking lights on each side.

This picture is with the turn lights. My opinion, it looks better and fits the curvature of the grille opening.Or Pic #2.

The convertible above appears to be a '54. You would need the '54 upper "lip" bar and the trim, plus maybe some '55 stainless end pieces, to pull that off in a '52. Does look nice, though.

Would the entire 1955 Ford grille with the parking/turn light housings fit within the opening of a 52?

You'd have to cut into the front fenders to make room for the '55 parking lights. It's been done, and looks real nice, but I think it looks best if you use the '54 upper grille bar and the end trims from a '55 to finish it all out.

Nitrobrother was nice enough to do a couple photoshops of my '52 using the original '52 parking lights and grille surround but with a '55 Ford grille bar like the Quesnel car has, here's pics. This is what I'm planning to do.

If I was totally re-doing the car, I would probably go with the '55 parking lights, or a '54 Chevy grille, but since my paint is already finished nice, I want to keep all that stuff intact.

  23. Well Dave, I finally talked to Jerry tonight and I got him talking about his old ford. He said the car was a medium tone green. He said he didn't want people to think he copied Sams color so it was lighter. Also said it was more metallic then Sams car was. He said it was a real good lookin paint job. I asked him about the interior and if he kept it mostly stock like he did with his merc. Not this car, he had green and white tuck n roll in this beauty. He told me he painted the car himself and said he really liked the finished product. He mentioned there used to be a picture of the car parked at the beach and with the way the sun was hitting it the car looked blue. The true color was green though.

I hope this helps you out Dave, I will be talking to Jerry soon hopefully and find out more. He was telling me about another car he had that I had no idea about.

That was a great read. I can't wait to hear more.

I agree. For some reason I always envisioned this car red, so I was surprised it was a green that could be confused for blue!

Here's a quick stab at it...

I thought it looked so good in Green that I would try some other colors out, too. I couldn't find one that looked bad!
