The V-8 adapters are going fast. The Model A's are plentiful.

I'm all out of the V-8 adapters. Sill have a few Model A versions. You can use the Model A adapters with a V-8 torque tube if you use the Model A clam shell clamp.

  5. I really hope you are going to make more v-8 adapters.:(

It's significantly shorter than the S10. I have a couple of them. And I think it'll go into a 35-40 chassis w/o excessive cutting of the X-member....but haven't offered it up to verify (just tape measure engineering thus far)

  10. is it gonna happen or a pipe dream.

    jeep t-5 adapter that is.

I've read through this thread after searching on a way to replace the Dynaflow in my '54 Buick, but keep the "ride" and simplicity of the stock suspension.

Does anyone see a reason that you couldn't do something similar with the Buick torque-tube setup, an adapter like this, and a 4L60-E transmission?

Probably from a 4WD truck since it would be better suited for adapting the torque ball? I like the idea of a 4L60-E because the later ones have removable bell-housings and I'd be able to machine some type of adapter to work with my 322 Nailhead. There are several places that allow separate control of the electronics on the trans, so that's not an issue, and for me with a Dynaflow that leaks like a sieve, this may be a better choice.

I love what I read here, I just wonder about this possible variation on the theme.

    Tom

the Chev and Ford out torque are the same dimensions.

It's just the different spline on the output shaft that needs to be made to do the chev conversion

I think you're missing a big market. The Jeep is so much shorter than the S10 4x4 T5 it fits better into a V8 chassis...

  21. probably gonna keep selling the one for s-10 because the pull-a-parts are full of them and they are cheap. say the word JEEP and the price goes up.

  22. are you going to make anymore v-8 tt adapters?

Yeah, but if it don't fit, it don't fit. ;) And, while I've not compared them side-by-side in a V8 frame, I know how tight the Jeep is already in a V8 frame and the S10 4x4 T5 is significantly longer - it would seem to me the entire X-member would have to be radically reworked with the S10 - and it doesn't with the Jeep. And, while anything can be adapted to anything given enough time and money, simpler is almost always better.

The Jeep guys don't really like the T5 because it's really a bit on the weak side for what they want to do. Often the first thing changed. I've never paid more than $125 for a Jeep T5 and I've got four or five of them. The real challenge is they were only used for a brief time in the early-mid 80s, so there just aren't as many available as the S10.

I'm going to build my own anyway, but would be nice to have options. ;)

No Tom, I haven't looked into it - the ford spline is larger and more coarse than the Chev one.

I'd imagine you'd have to do one of 2 things:
either have the output shaft resplined to Chev, or, cut and shut 2 driveshafts - the front from a Ford, and the rear of a Chev.

Don Montgomery did this (2nd method) with a Buick Trans / Ford Torque-tube in his famous 32 3Window 12 port powered coupe

I don't know if this is 100% relevant to the thread,

but I found a company that advertises 4x4 adapters for T5WC transmissions for use in Bronco IIs.

    No pricing listed though...

    http://www.jamesduff.com/broncoII/v8conversion.html

I don't know if that would work with the adapter above - looks like it might be close. I assume they made the adapter to the output shaft of the WC trans.

If it works, it would give you the same setup, but with a WC T5.

  28. i would think the S10 would be bigger market because of simply there are more S10's than jeeps around.

    I've got 2 V-8 units left for the S-10 4x4 trans.
