I was concerned about up load speed from the size of the pictures and some peoples quotes including already loaded pictures. Thought I would stream line it.
Update on this thread, sorry for the duplicates, but I know some of you have this on auto update... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=453343
Thanks, but I think luck or GOD had more to do with it than skill. I still don't know how it turned out so nice....
Very nice chop and it seams just enough to take out 2 inch for a perfect look. Damn, when reading this I start thinking about my own 47 Olds coupe that sits in my garage with a very high top…
Thank fellas. I am very happy with the results. With the sealer on it, now I can see all the little areas to fix on the rest of the car....... Does it ever end?
Damn, i really dig this chop. Planing on doing the same chop on my car.. really good pictures you've took. great inspiration..
I finally got back to work on mine. Got the gas tank mounted and will start on steering next week. Roger
Update on the coupe and a story to go with it. So time is drawing near for the coupe and I to be in Maui. I leave here December 2cnd and drive it to Hayward California to the port, where it will be taken to San Diego. From San Diego, PASHA is shipping it over to Maui. It leaves San Diego on the 16th and will arrive around the 23rd. My plan is to document the road trip, pictures and all. The weather and any and all problems, sounds like fun. The weather is cold and snowy, so a chopped 46 coupe in wide whites with full skirts, rollin' down the highway in the snow should be a sight. Gonna load the trunk with a jack, tire iron, tools and tire chains for the snow.(hopefully I don't need them) Hopefully this will be entertaining to watch. Ok, So it started with a nasty snow storm predicted for the trip from Boise to Reno, NV. But we already had reservations for the car on the boat, so we had to go. Here we are getting gas at the last gas stop on the small hwy out of town. A keen eye will notice the car is now in black primer. Yes, it was painted the night before. Minutes before the trip, the install of the new aluminum radiator was finished. I also added a clutch fan. New hoses and fixed the pesky distributor gasket oil leak. Just like Willy Nelson sang, we were on the road again. Here I am concentrating on the idiots in front of me scared of the snow, and my wife is taking pictures......Then I noticed her shenanigans.... All in all, the trip to Reno was pretty uneventful. The road was DRY!! Like the good Lord cleared it for us. The coupe purred along at around 2k rpms at 70-75 mph. We used about 11 gallons in the 260 miles prior to our first stop in Winnemucca (which means "one moccasin", litterally). We topped it off and ran the rest of the trip to Reno, about 200 miles to my parents house. That was Thursday, December 2. We left at around 1pm and arrived around 8pm, which would have been 7pm or so with the time change. Not too bad. Some parts o the trip I may have been doing felony speeds.... No cop, no stop! The next day we set out to go over Donner Summit. 8k feet or more and usually chains required to go over the pass. The news predicted a storm and the road report said chains....still we set out. Topped off again. This was the worst of it at the top. Got to the other side wife needed a pitstop, me too. Noticed some "pin striping"...eh, who needs Von Dutch. We were getting looks and thumbs ups and honks from the truckers as we blew by them on the pass. Heading into San Francisco, the traffic was easy, but flying. I stayed at around 80-85 the whole way into Hayward. Dropped the car off at the shippers holding facility and did the inspection. Some of the primer came off in a few small places, no biggie. Looks like the car was sad to see us leave. We were sad to walk away from it, but we will be reunited soon in a MUCH better place. Later
Very kool Brant,I'm sooo glad you didn't get rid of her(the car)!!Sweet pics, loved the natural pinstripes.Keep us updated
Looks like a great road trip Brant. I wish you and your wife well for the big move! Geoff aka whodaky
wow man cool story,, nice of you to post it twice! I know I've told ya this before but it needs to be said again. That chop is perfect. Lines are right, proportions are phenominal. Good job! Now fix the rest of it.
Damn that chop looks sano - great work Brandt. Ya just KNOW every gearheads secretly harbors the desire to have a go at chopping one of their rides at least OB+NCE in their lifetime. You make it look easy !! Rat
Thanks everyone for the kind words. Dustin, I really love this car and would have hated to see it go. Now I won't be able to get rid of it.... Tony, we are moving to Maui. I have 17 days left before I fly over for good. The car is gonna beat me there by a week or so. My wife will follow suit a few weeks after that. Jay, there I fixed the duplicates. I don't know how that happend. NO one should have to put up with seeing my mug that many times in one page. Thank you for noticing. I will be forced to fix the rest of it as it will rust away if I don't! I'm gonna get real good at patch panels. Probably have to replace them more than once before I am done.
