Great time as usual! Can't wait for the next one. I noticed the one you snapped accidentally as well. I especially liked when the group of expert motorheads on here went down the one way street in front of the museum the wrong way. You know who you are!!!!!

Very cool day. Thganks for organizing.

  15. That newspaper clipping of Charlie Mcfarland's 32 Coupe brought back memories , the last time I seen the coupe was in a garage next to Rt. 422 in Exeter, PA . The hemi was sitting on the floor and the coupe was neatly cut apart on a pile, roof, quarter panels , doors , cowl , deck lid and grille, didn't see the frame. That was the way this guy bought the car, he didn't know why it was cut up. Think it was about 1985.

Nice to see everyone in the winter. Thanks Jerry (homemadehardtop) & Dick (terrarodder) for arranging another great event. Dick is a hot rodding icon in our area. He was instrumental in bringing some of the first drag racing to Pennsylvania, most notably the Convair Airfield in '55. Dick, I'll start searching for a mannequin that looks like you for the museum...I already have some spare suspenders.

The day was actually quite nice...we dodged some nasty weather right before & right after. And, as far as the one way street things goes, that's the least of their troubles in that war zone. Did anyone catch the guys jumping around in the middle of the street trying to get me to get on the '33? I gave 'em a little & they were happy. Here are some more pics.

    This car needs more lights!

This picture of this mirror is not blurry...it was machine turned that way..wow.

The Allentown fairgrounds race track in '34. Note the pace car..uh truck.

I hope this one doesn't get banned by the moderators.

Every time I go to that museum, this guy is working on that same car. It must be a real lemon.

The guys who were loading the ATV's up the street loved the little street show from the 33. We were right behind you. Henry and I were laughing our ass off when we went down the street the wrong way. We were the last ones and a bunch of cars were coming the other way. Too late now, so he just gassed it and headed for the driveway. I thought the guy in the Prious coming our way was gonna shit when he saw the big Ford get on it! He didn't know we were turning in about 50 ft.

By the way, in the pic above with the gasser they had a reworked '38(?) hood in bare metal and lead just clear coated and the work on it was incredible. Some great metalwork from the Lehigh Valley shops back in the '50's. Also a great inspiration was the very bright colors on the vintage stuff. Nary a Henry Black to be seen on the big buck stuff, (Cord, AUburn, Caddy and the blue on the Pierce Arrow was stunning in the light. It looked black until you alked around to the window side and then "WOW"!

Nice to meet some fellow HAMBers. Funny how dick liked the Hupmobile looked a little like the terraplane. Must have a thing for BIG cars. Was cool to see the old mack trucks [love those chain drives]. That was a one way street?

HA! Yes it is one way...kind of...it changes mid-stream..only a modern thing...I always go for it just for tradition sake. Koz, I didn't realize that was you behind me!

Years ago, that museum site used to be the A&B Meat processing plant. In the late 50's/early 60's I went to Jr. high-school a couple of blocks up & we used to have to walk from the school to the "park," for gym class. It was unreal, because we'd walk (with the teacher) across streams of animal waste/sewerage gray water that the industry dumped & then on the freakin' railroad tracks to make it to the "park." I was on a baseball team that had that company's hot dog logo on it. Nothing elicits fear in another team's heart like a hot dog in a bun.

The hood was on a 40 Merc, the guy that owned it smashed it in, Dopy Duncan redone it that way, he was a master metal worker. The car is now bright yellow with a white chopped rag top.

Your not alone going the wrong way there, I've seen the cops give alot of tickets there. The museum is trying to get the city to change it.
