A little something to get you guys through these cold winter months--some film I shot at last year's Jalopy Showdown. This was done on Super 8, so there's no sound, unfortunately. Spring is coming! -Darby If any HAMBer's have a band and own rights to their music, I'd love to add some rock and roll or surf-style music to this...
I dig that film even without the sound. The Super 8 b/w gives it real cool feel. Would you be into making copies?
I might, and it could be higher quality too--I reduced it down to make it more download friendly. What format would you want it in? I hope to get down there. I've gotten better with the camera since then, and I also picked up another one with a longer zoom that would be great for the drags. I took some at the Nostalgia Drags in Epping, NH last summer, and they came out pretty good--LeadSledMerc's pickup is in that one.
OOOO, SPike, You got served. HarHarHar.... Darby, any formats good, its up to you. Any larger, better resolution copy would be great. Thanks.
It must be the camera. My pucker meter was telling me we were pretty close to the limits of the machines we were opereating. Come on over and we'll take you for a ride. No seatbelts, rollbars or crash helmets. Don't try this at home...we are trained professional idiots...with big grins.
Yeah, that was the idea--I try not to capture anything too easily identifiable as "modern" in the background. I did the same thing at the Nostalgia Drags and at Bonneville, but I haven't gotten to editing that stuff yet.
I booked vacation, working on my MarkX as my copilot. Texas WILL have a car there this year. I hope it rains
he he he he he ....just what I hoped for. Thanks a lot for the invitation Tommy. Don't be surprised if a couple of Norwegians come by. I think this is too cool. Have seen the other photos you have posted earlier of this event. I must say I'm all green of envie of you dudes having a drivable hot rod to do roundy rounds with. "Quote...or crash helmets.????? " I remember your flat scalopped helmet. Looked more like a scarf I guess the wind resistance forced it back to yer neck. The crappy 8mm do need some oil. Fix it ASAP. We want to see the real thing. You know how to have fun. Thanks for sharing Paul
I reposted this on YouTube (it was posted somewhere you had to download from before...), so that guys who liked the Hot Rodding is Dead video could see more of the Jalopy footage... This is one of the clips that'll be included on the DVD that I'm offering in the HAMB auction. This is silent right now. If somebody out there is in a band and owns rights to their music, it'd be fun to make this into a music video--PM me if yer interested...
Cool video, thanks for the inspiration. Can't wait to get my roadster out on the track next year. See you all there! Me-oh
