J-2 Golden Rocket Power in your '57 Olds!

Hello: Good catch on the posi. Yes you are correct. No posi's in 1957, 1958 was the first year and had the 29 spline axels, very rare. 59-63 Olds/Pointiac went to 31 spline.
I put in a 3.64 Posi third meber out of a 64 Pontiac. I had Brad a FabCraft make me new correct 31 spline axels.

Everytime i go to a gas station with this car an old guy comes up and says "Does it have a J-2?" yep. "I had one in a model A it laid rubber for two blocks"

 

My grandfather had a 57 vert i have some old pics of him infront of it ill see if i can dig them up...we were very close and when he passed away i got a tattoo on my entire left side from my spine to my stomach of his car

 

I'm puting a J2 motor in my A Coupe, sorta
it's been a bit of a struggle

found a real '57 J2 motor
one head was cracked
and it had spun a rod bearing

found a replacement crankshaft
turned .010/.010
and stock steel flywheel off a '59 371

midway through the build
I decided to put a blower on it...

bought another set of pistons and drive stuff

all the rotating parts in the shop getting ballanced
and broached for double keying the blower hub

found some replacement #16 heads,
the local shop is working on them now too

I'll be using an Isky cam

I had thought of using the three twos on top of the blower but
will probably go with two fours

using a Vertex magneto for spark

in my mind it's still a J2
but the only parts that came on it from the factory
will be the block, lifters and adjustable rockers
