I have a pretty good size piece of metal in my eye. I'm gonna try eye drops to get it out. I'm probably gonna have to get surgery. Moral of this story, wear goggles!

Right! Or at least wear safety glasses when grinding. Went to the infirmary 3 times to get stuff out of my eye, and it was never fun.

I had one in mine... lacerated my lens... had the eye doctor cut it out and he numbed it and used a Qtip to get the very tiny pieces out. Few days and I was back to normal and my lens grew back.

Don't mess with it, just go the doctor!! You gotta have good eyesight... on the way home go by home depot and grab a pair of safety glasses!!!

Was it from grinding? and if yes, I bet it is on the colored part, rather than white? If it is a tiny piece of grinding slag, it will be stuck pretty good.

They numb it, then that same fluid has something that helps loosen it it, then they pck it right off in an instant, and bill the insurance co $293 for outpatient surgery. I clocked the second hand on my watch as I entered the office, I was out the door in 8 minutes including them getting Ins info and signature.

Now, I let the flake stay there, and it always drops off in one or 2 days, usually one.

A shiny piece of real steel? like from a sharp die grinder bit? You need to go to ER right now

I had my eye drilled twice cuz o that. Went to sleep and thought it would be better in the morning. Apparently your eye heals fast and it here's right over it.

On the plus side they give you ocular cocaine.

Go to the emergency room now. I had a piece in my eye one time and figured it would work it's way out. After a few days I went to the emergency room and they told me in 24 hours I would have been blind in that eye !

It isn't pleasant to have them remove it, but it sure beats the alternative.

I've had metal fibers from grinding removed from my eyes numerous times. I have a good opthamologist. He numbs my eye and while I keep it open and look at a spot on the wall with my other eye, he picks it out. He can do this in his office. Eye drops will NOT get it out. The heat from the metal makes it stick in there and rust, then it hurts. While sleeping, the rapid eye movement makes it rub and get irritated.

Call first thing in the morning and get in to see a specialist. It will only get worse.

Until then, if it hurts too much, you might want to take Advil for the pain and ice it with frozen peas.

Oh, I pay cash and it costs me about $50.

They used a Magnetized needle when I did it. I waited, and it started to look like my eyeball was rusting. Just go to the Dr., it's not gonna come out on its own. I thought the same thing, all it did was prolong the pain.

Yup, had the same thing happen to me. Nothing like having to watch a drill come at your eye. I let mine go thinking it would come out over night too. All it did was get a bit swollen, and really sensitive to light. The doc had me fixed up pretty fast though.

I rarely go to eye doctors...

    to get metal work done.

I have; however, been to one to get something out of my eye. :D because that is what they are good at.

    Sorry for your misery bro.

  23. I was grinding with a dremel tool while laying under my 25 roadster and got a microscopic sliver of metal in my eye.

I waited a day before I relented and went to the doctor and it was one of the most uncomfortable days of my life.

The eye doc used his big magnifier thingamabob and the pain went away the second he pulled it out.

What makes it all so stupid is that I'm a chemist and wear goggles all the time for safety. I just pulled a dumbass that day.

Go get it out before it starts to rust.
My buddy went the next day and he gad a rust ring for a long time after the metal was out.
We all do stupid things with our eyes and as my dad always said you only get Two

  25. Aaron, if you haven't done so already, get yourself to "Slaughter Coast" NOW. If you need a ride, call me, I'll have you there in 10 minutes.
Don't mess around, buddy, if your Pa or Mom can't take you, call me, and I'll get you there...

you could try flushing or a single pass with a q tip if this does not remove it or its obviously imbeaded . cover both eyes and have someone drive and escort you to ermergency.
