I really gotta say as one other suggested that this was literally a wrap...not as perfected however but so much signage is done this way now. I remember a couple of years ago someone here wrapped their 32.

The ad you pulled is a perfect example of things that give verification to the past...as if one talked about using a overlay such as that it may be fluffed off as it didn't happen. History is awesome.

I keep an open mind to what others do to the vintage rides. Done with thought it can all come together. There is a heck of a lot of history in the tartan as well. Not mine however...;)

These new ideas today so many times are just things borrowed from the past and modded to suit todays demands and a heck of a lotta dough is to be made as well doing it.

I'm reminded of the Docker Daimlers, in which the company owner's wife Norah, Lady Docker had the not altogether disagreeable idea that wallpaper may be used to good effect on the outside of a car:

Related to the above Hupmobile, similar treatments were uncovered in this thread.

IIRC, ......Scotch (frugal people by stereotype) Plaid on the V6 was intended to evoke the image of economy......though as I further recall, economy was not one of the features of those engines. Along that line of thinking...the mid/late '50's Studebaker "Scotsman" line of cars and pickups.......inexpensive to buy and operate.

  18. Been seeing plaid in a lot of C-10 builds lately, didn’t care for it at first but now I think it’s pretty cool

I`ve been mostly wearing plaid shirts since High School. With a few car shirts once in a while. And I`m not 50 yet.

Been thinking about putting plaid inserts in the seats in my 37 Chevy p/u if I ever get around to redoing the interior.
