Technical Is this prest o lite tank for cars?

    i found an old Prest O Lite acetylene torch in a pawn shop, then noticed the stem is offset to the side. That would indicate it is a lay down style tank wouldn’t it? I know this brand was popular for headlight torches.

    Sure looks like an old plumbers torch setup to me.

    Yep .... KK got it ..... my dad was a plumber ....SO ... I was one as soon as I was strong enough to carry the TOOL BUCKET .... Used one O dem MANY TIMES ......

    I've got one just like it too. Great for sweating pipe! I believe it's called a B tank. I was taught to never lay any compressed gas tank on its side and then open it.

    This is what the early Brass Era cars used, note the label, tank was plated a brushed nickel. Bob
