If you are trying to sell it and it looks like you are why don't you put a price on it and put it in the class ads where it belongs. If it is just something that you found and want to know if you should buy it like in "is it worth saving?" as your title implies then why would you want us to "PM" with questions? Just tell us the scoop.
Looks like a 42 (?) but you don't know what body style it is, right? Could be a great one like a 60S (if they were available in 42), or maybe the smaller fastback which makes a great kustom.
It's up on Louisville craigslist for free -- come and get it. I thought a link to CL would get poofed. I can't get it, just hoped somebody can before the scrappers drag it off.
FREE!!! Damn it! I'm in louisville today but got the wrong kind of truck to haul back a cadillac to ohio. Missing out on another one! Oh well hope someone gets it hate to see it scraped!
Well I'll be quick to appologize. You can suggest that it is one craigs list and you saw it. Even if it isn't a very desirable body for a customizer it does have desirable parts for someone building an early custom like the grill bumperets, quarters and tail lights etc. What would be the most outragious is it it were an old limo. Again not your standard custom fodder but I have seen them done up real nice and respectable as customs go.
We can't see most of the car. But any HAMBer knows that any Caddy of that vintage is worth saving if the rest of the car is in anywhere close to the same condition as what is visible. So why ask a question with an obvious answer?
well to start off with, ANY OLD CAR IS WORTH SAVING. if there is something there that someone can use or if someone wants a project go for it. remember when it is gone.................... it is gone................. just like creatures on the indangered and extinct species list, when they are gone, GAME OVER.
Good idea... except for one little problem... I already have 18wheels under me and I don't think my refer trailer will hook up to a uhaul car trailer of coarse that would be very interesting to see driving down the road... big rig hauling a 53 ft trailer and a 42 cadillac behind that!
It depends on what you mean by "worth saving". Based on what can be seen in the picture it looks complete and sound. But if "worth saving" means can it be restored and sold at a profit, probably not. If you look at the cost per mile for most get from hobby cars it doesn't work out very well financially. Even if your time isn't worth much and you do a lot of the work yourself, most cars aren't worth what it takes to do a full and proper job on them. Something to be aware of.... Beyond basic mechanical service parts there is very little available for old Cadillacs. Anything missing has to be found used(generally rare and expensive), or made(even more expensive to have done).
WILL SOMEONE PLEASE GO GET THIS THING! And post up some pics... I'm way out in Okie land and too far away....
our '50 plymouth was pretty solid, original paint with somerot in the floors. we stripped it down, fixed somebody work and painted her. shes better than new now. if the car turns out solid and you're handy with a wrench....its probably worth it.
Ain't there no more. I just hope someone in town for the NSRA nats spotted it but I fear the crushers move faster. I was afraid if I had posted "free car seen on craigslist" it would have been poofed before anyone saw it, hoped that I'd get a quick reply. we can only hope.
