  5. Thanks. I told my cousin that it very likely had a 413 under the hood. I said buy it!

Imperial is a stand alone company. Kind of like saying a Ford Mercury car.

It does appear to be a 1960 Chrysler Imperial, which should in fact be packin' a 413 - quit posting about it and make it yours...

Imperial was only its own company for a short period..... So was Continental for 2 years I believe, since you brought up Ford and Mercury

Early 60's Mopars are so cool one day I'll get one.

I ran across this car about 2 months ago in Shaniko OR. I figured it was an Imperial but not sure what year. The shed it sits in is real dark.

I'd swear it was considered a Chrysler most years and not usually its own name, but I'm learning new stuff all the time.

One thing I will say is I've seen and searched for plenty Mopar dealership signage photos and memorabilia and have never come across anything that said: Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, De Soto and Imperial dealers anywhere. For the Chrysler Nationals @ Carlisle they have ( Imperial /Chrysler Imperial) 1924 and up all in 1catagory with no specific year designation so that's no help.

Regardless really cool cars, I dig the one the granfataer has in " White Boy Rick"

The Imperial is a 56 – Just like the license says.

Chrysler Corp. jumped Imperial back and forth as an independent make for several years – no where as long as some state above. Valiant did the same.

If you read the last paragraph of the first column, it says that "Imperial became a separate division of Chrysler Corporation . But, it wasn't until a year later that it started to develop its own personality". As a side note, they correctly used "its" rather than "it's". I always have to think about that one. :)
