I am looking at purchasing this truck, the owner claims it is a original 1932 ford roadster pickup I know that they are rare and nothing like any other 32 ford but this looks more like a 31. It is complete except for winshield , rear fenders and motor

Looks like a cutup 33 or 34 pickup cab.

Roadster cowl + doors. Cannot tell about the rear of the "cab".

Looks like a nice project. Go for it!

  6. Cowl looks to be a 33-34. Rear body panel has the right reveal line for a roadstr pickup. frame is 32. There is a metal piece that bolts to the cowl under the windshield frame that is roadster pickup only, as are the windshield post and frame these would be hard to find if they are not included.

33 /34 roadster pickup? unless the 32 version had a different firewall from a regular 32.

looks like the firetruck(etc) version cowl since there is no windshield

Looks like a 32 Im not sure if they are the same as trucks ,Firewall was removable on 32 trucks and 34 were welded .Id buy it. Frame is definately 32 Its not a cut down pickup Lines on the back are way different. And they look factory.

That is a '32 roadster p.u. cab. It has the correct reveal around the back of the cab.

Looks right. Has the correct reveal at the back. The bolts on the side of the cowl. Cowl vent on top.

Firewall does not say '32 to me. Hood hinge mount on firewall also not '32.

    What does the title say?

I would like to know about the body shell next to it.

  14. I have been led to believe the 32 roadster pickups had the same firewall as all the other 32's.

As for the rear of the cab,,both 32 and 33 shared the same step down odd looking beltline just before it reached the roadster door.

My guess is that it is a 33 Ford,,roadster pickup.

Show us a picture of the hood laying inside the cab.HRP

If that is a true 33 roadster pickup you just won the lottery.

'33 pick up cab. But as for an RPU hard to tell from your pictures, The firewall is a dead giveaway though as all '32's have detached firewalls. No big deal either way as it's a bitchin' start. The big tall piece that goes under the windshield is pretty ugly and if you can use what's there you are onto a way better looking deal as it is. Plus the doors do look roadster as they have a much prettier sweep in them than an RPU of the same 32-34 look. Most RPU's are flat across the back as well where the top wood goes. If you want to really know shoot Nealinca a PM as he has both a real '32 RPU in his shop and his truck which is a much cleaner and better looking example of a '32 RPU created from a very meager starting point. But Royal Shifter is right if you found a real '33 RPU they are far more rare than the '32.

    Good Luck,
    Tim

If so I know they can fill you in,,,good luck! HRP

So does a 33 rpu use a 32 ford frame? I was told that the dash panel tells that it is a 32, did a 33 use the same dash?

Rear of cab and doors are rpu...cowl doesn't have rpu windshield mounting holes. Could be a cut up closed cab pickup cowl, or firetruck.

    ...and firewall is 33-34

33 rpu uses a 33 passenger car frame. That body would fit on a 32 frame, but if the bed is 33-34, it would have to be shortened 6" to fit on a 32 frame...33-34 wheelbases were 6" longer than 32.

Those doors are definetily NOT 32 -34 ford roadster pickup. The doors on that rpu look similar to 32 roadster car and original 32-34 ford RPU doors are totally different. Looks like a made up RPU to me using a 33 cab.

  26. yes,,,my 32 closed cab pickup below,,,a 33 closed cab is identical.

This is what a 32 rpu cab looks like from the back portion.

Ok, I sit corrected...the doors do look like roadster doors, but the body reveal around the backside of the cab looks to be rpu.
