Is any of these bodies and parts worth anything?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Rustedcutlery, Jun 17, 2013.

  1. A guy from down the street noticed my '30 a and asked me if I would be interested in the bodies and parts he found in a tree claim. So I took a look at them and they are pretty far gone, I personally dont know if there is anything I could use, but I'll let you guys be the judge.

He told me to make a offer, but to be honest, I dont know if anything is salvageable, maybe the axels and the 1 cowl?

I'm not expert but I'd say absolutely there are some good usable parts there.

Seller should set the starting price.
If he won't, start at $600.

    For all of it.

Any good guesses on the ID of the sedan? At first I thought early Plymouth from the flathead 4-banger and the light bar, but it has a cowl vent and probably didn't have quarter windows. Rustedcutlery, did you see the ID tag on the firewall?

    The coupe's a '28 A, of course.

the Sedan looks like a 31 Willys Knight

  12. that coupe is one ruff p.o.s.,but I still want it!

  13. Willys Knights had big six cylinder Knight sleeve valve engines, not puny little four holers

  14. Grt the coupe!!!!!!!!

The Firewall, the design on front visor and the light bar appear to be Willys Knight.

If not Willys Knight I would say its a Pontiac, they also had a similar design on the visor

Did Briggs make that body? I thought it was a '29 Model A Steelback Fordor untill I noticed the chassis and firewall. Bob

  20. I believe it's a Whippet

  21. Every single thing there has some sellable value. And every thing you sell is a few more bucks for your own car. Take them home, the coupe body will sell quick for some good money, you'll have zero invested in the rest except time to advertise what you have.

If you do get everything, go to wokr.org - they have an active forum and registry; somebody there should be interested in what's left of the poor little thing.

  23. I will see what I can do. He said he had no idea what they are worth, so he tossed out a starting price of $1,000, but it sounded like he was guessing himself.

Someone would buy that coupe pretty quickly, but it would have to be fairly cheap, as in under a grand. The Whippet is neat and someone would build something out of the leftover tin and framerails, but again, I don't think you'd get more than a few hundred for it, unless you pieced it out, which could take a while.

If you could buy both for $500 I think you could double your money in a week with a couple of craigslist ads.

  29. Tree claim is the same as tree strip, or tree grove.

I remember a Star that had the distributor running off the generator. Pontiac never had fours in the old days.
