Every now and then somebody asks about using a 500 inch Cad in a Hot Rod. The experts chime in with the "Stump puller" answers. Which I bet it would do. But the Spectre Racing AB/GS running a turbocharged 485 cubic inch iron Cad with the cast iron crank went 409 on blackie carbon today on the salt. Thought to be the first 400mph gas burning car. The turbo failed on reture so he wasn't able to back up the record. But this proves the point that I sometimes make 500 inches (or close) can't be bad. Or 400 for that matter.

Rich, That's an amazing accomplishment. Hope they're able to sort out the turbo and chase down the class record.

I'm going to run a 500 Cad in something one day...had two, that were going in a now-ex's OT vehicles (one a Scout II, the other a Dually). I remember thinking then how the Eldorado manifolds would be perfect for a turbo motor...just turn them around backwards, build a y-pipe, and add a huge single turbo.

Nice, what size turbo were they running? Air to water?

I would like to find out more about that engine setup. sounds bitchin. I hope they back it up soon.
