There's an old wrecking lot near my place that has quite a few 50s, 60s cars, mostly not saveable.... a few years ago a couple friends and I were scouring for anything interesting on Christmas Eve morning... my buddy is digging around in a car and pulls out an old, old clay pipe/bong thing in the shape of a fat Buddha or something. Then we find a hemi sitting in the back of an old pickup inside a shed.... my other friend gets excited and we find the owner toasting his toes inside the office.... My friend asks him "how much for the hemi in the back of the pickup in the such and such shed?" the owner looks him straight in the eye and says, " there ain't no hemi". My friend doesn't get it yet and says, "yeah there is, the one in the pickup box, in the shed by the such and such...." and the second time he understood... "there ain't no hemi!" Ok, ok, Merry Christmas to you too!
I looked at (but didn't buy) a 49 chev 4 door last year that the owner said was full of old typewriters and porn when he bought it at a sherriff's auction back in the late 60s....

    Great thread.

    LOOGY, you win.

    You already got your trophy.

A buddy of mine and his girlfriend were waiting for a parking spot when some yuppy (is that still a word) whipped in and took his spot. My buddie's girl told my buddy she'd take care of the problem.

After the yuppy walked away from the car, she took off her bra, leaned in the guy's car and left her bra on the rear floorboard, 1/2 way under the front seat.

That guy probably had some explaining to do later...Hopefully his wife found something in his car.

    Slightly O/T, but appropriate.

I bought a 27 model t roadster in parts from a guy in North Little Rock... got it home and tore the cowl off the subframe and was taking the door strikers off and a early 1900's Liberty Silver Dollar was stuck between the brace and the outer panel, surprised it didn't fall out sooner as the panels behind the doors were rusted out and beat to crap. Someone had carried it a while in their pocket, it was nearly rubbed smooth but you could still see that good looking liberty chick!!

I bought a 1957 Plymouth for the engine and chassis. It had the roof ripped off when it was hit by an airborn Pontiac. When I was stripping it down I found the drivers jaw bone and neck in the trunk.

WHY did you pick up a car with a live dog in the trunk??

  13. I had a scrap guy pop a trunk on a '58 Merc sedan for me that was stacked to go to the crusher. Two orange Gulf gallon motor oil cans. One was full - with fresh oil no less.

A while later I fished an intake with a Stromberg 48 on it out of the trunk of a '48-ish Chrysler that had sat on it's side so long it was just about all rotted away - I forget what I sold it for, like $90 I think -

Some other guys found some great vintage oil cans and old bottles and things in cars up there, I have a batch of milk/cream and soda bottles myelf. I found a couple of toy cars in the remains of some that had been ripped out in the winter.. and in a '58 Plymouth wagon there was an EMD Locomotive operator's manual. Unfortunately that side of the yard had been flooded out a couple times and it was ruined.

One '52 Pontiac trunk had a Model A headlight bar, a bunch of carbs, plugs, distributor caps, and a couple water pumps -

And I purposely bought a '57 Dodge 2dr wagon because it was full of carbs, some starters, a bunch of fuel pumps and things - I'd fished a nice 97 out of it a while before that and sold it for $125. Along the way a few more hubcaps and a Ford wide-five drum and wheel, and a '37 Chevy fender, all got stuffed into it too.

I was fixin the back quarter on a newer bmw vert for this big tough jock dude. I opened the trunk and found about 20 gay porn mags. I finished the work, and could barely keep from laughin when he came to get his car. Also one time I was puttin a windshield in a mini van I had just replaced the front clip on. I found skull fragments in the glass. Found out later it hit 3 mexicans tryin to cross the freeway to get into america. Killed them all, mom dad and the kid.

I was working on a 60's T-Bird for a friend who said that it belonged to Joe Strummer (guitar player for The Clash). He shows me the registration and it says John Mellor . Anyway, I am cleaning out the trunk so that I can install new trim and I find a stack of paperwork; in there was a stack of repair records and John Mellor's drivers license, I look at the photo and there he was , 'ol Joe Strummer.

Found a gold coin condom in the insulation on a 53 ford truck.

Was fixing a dodge truck that a customer brought in one day. Apparently someone had shot themselves in head while sitting in the front seat. Supposedly had been cleaned out. I went out in the parking lot after I was done with it for some reason and opened the passenger door...door jamb full of brains...nice...he paid a little xtra

  21. Doing a bodylift on a mid '80s f150 (body bolts go down from the top) had to pull interior. When the customer came to pickup he walked back in white as a ghost "did you guys have to work inside my truck?" I guess he figured out we found his GAY PORN stash!

When I detailed cars we would alwys look for change and crap in cars, most back seats comeout pretty easy so we always did that. I found a black Onyx Gold ring, a ladies timex - gold, tens of dollars woth of change, and umpteen petrified McDonalds french fries. The worst was a petrified condom, unraveled and stuck to the sound deadening material.

On my own vehicles, I found a pterified field mouse in a seat, and this wierd ass slotted mag look alike hub cap, both in a 1968 AMC Javelin.

That 54 plymouth had two oil bath air cleaners, a complete set of snow tires and chains to go with, two boxes full of replacement parts, including two sets of brass head gaskets and an empty gallon of the corral pink with ancient thinner. Pretty nice stash I thought

A .32 revolver slug fell out when I pulled the radiator from a 65 Nova. Someone shot the car but didn't kill it.

This was a racoon at one time, which must have lived it's entire life inside my '52 Chevy woodie. Also included in the wagon was this racoon's lifetime worth of turds.

I once bought an '86 Nova for parts. I found the strangest assortment of junk in it. Just off the top of my head

    • a pink umbrella
    • a bottle of baby lotion (see below)
    • porn magazines
    • a very old rootbeer bottle full of mud
    • a pirate flag
    • a broken screwdriver (used to turn the ignition on and off)
    • a motel key with the room number and name of the motel on it
    • several hundred nails
    • the soundtrack to "The Sound of Music" on cassette
