Take any car and remove (but include) parts. Value is less. Cut it up = less. Take it from running to non-running = less. Take a faded paint to sanded down but not primed, = less.

Anything that is a stalled process that A requires immediate work and/or B makes it less functional or presentable is going to be considered a failure to complete and devalue a product, even if the buyer was going to do the same thing.
It's like taking something you took apart to a pro and ask them to finish the job. It will be at least as much labor.

Its possible the doors with the cut off top window frame on that coupe came from an earlier model or a different GM car line that has the square cut rear top corners. If the correct parts that match the body are not there, if definitely reduces the value of the car. Not many are capable of fabricating the top of a door window frame to match a car body. If the door window frame that matches the body is there, that may help, but still reduces the value.

What amazes me is how many of these projects shown on this thread have been sold. It almost like there are many watching this thread, just waiting for someone to post something they might be interested in. I'm not looking for anything, but I find myself looking here to see if something close by, and cheap enough, might change my mind.

You guys that are posting these projects might be causing the next Hot Rod revival! Keep posting them up!

  4. Yeah, I was hoping (still am; maybe I'll try communicating with them again, this summer) the '60 Ranchero (it's incorrectly called a '62) I posted in #502 is in better shape (mostly rust-wise) than the '61 Ranchero I have.

  5. DIY junkyard oldie alert. This is in Napa County, CA. The wheels are often removed before they hit the yard.

My take is when you just look occasionally and don't see anything or it is expensive people jump to the conclusion, it isn't out there anymore, the hobby is dying or people are crazy what they want but in reality the good stuff or at least the cheap stuff sells fast and the lister just pulls the ad, I know I do when I sell something I don't need people bothering me when the item is gone already. but now we have multiple people all over looking at different times and posting the original ad we get to see that HEY THEY DO EXIST.

    Happy hunting everyone.

    and it's a 40.
41 has a oval or heart shaped grille, std opening hood and 3 ribs at the back of each fender.

Looks like the spl/unique parts are there. Now to find a donor '42... :D .
Nuts, would that make an interesting old-styled hotrod - similar to the Chrys limo Tex Smith did.
    Marcus...

Interesting that someone swapped a toploader into that hearse.

  22. That might make a good tiny home. Home is where the hearse is.

  24. If this was local, my wife would have a solid reason to hate me.

  25. The hearse is a hatchback.
