    I can find no source information about this but I'll go out on a limb and say that it was from the mid to late '50s and was published. There is a hard-to-read name at the lower right as if it was lettered on the helmet but I can't read it. This pic has been all over the internet and used on other things such as fridge magnets but it's the first that I've seen it (I don't get out much!). Anyway, this sure exemplifies the jalopyjournal.com philosophy to me.

    Looks like the cover art for a 50s MoToR or Motor Age, but I couldn't find which issue to verify it. Harold Stevenson was an illustrator who trained with Norman Rockwell and did a number of modelmaking magazine covers.
