Haven't had a drink in over two decades...Irish.
Taking the hot rod to lunch today, outdoor dining...

 

Yeah, the shooting of beer was definitely a teenage thing. That was quite a while ago! LOL

 

Yep, time flies,that 's for sure.
Drove the Hot Rod again today, went to lunch at the next city over.
The wife, I and our dog Isky.
Outdoor dining, looks like a customer fell asleep in the sun.
Some car guys were there talking hot rods, another good day,

Mick, I can't believe that you still have photos of all of the cars you and your family had! Man, what I wouldn't give to have photos of the stuff from my younger days but I just wasn't into taking pictures. Even as I got older and had a decent camera I didn't take very many. It's easier now with the new phones but that won't bring back the one's I missed in the past.

 

bchctybob, I've always been a picture freak. I've had 40+ vehicles [if you include boats, motorcycles, trailers, dune buggies] over the years.
As an example check out this Model T sedan I had in the early 70s.
Chrome moly chassis, 396, sure was light weight...

Switched motors in the mid 1990s

 

I had an engine fire, using the original gas tank [behind the dash] was pretty scary
so I bought a fuel cell for it, much safer...

 

I loved those fat tires on the back of that "T" Sedan you posted above .... where they Firestones or Goodyear ? They look like the Indy Racing Tires they used to sell in the 70's.

70s? Could be, I had the car around 1974...

I'd do it! Just leave the hood off, that way she can't be TOO pissed at you... LOL!

 

Tried to talk her into it but nope...oh well.

 

Drove the Hot Rod to Sears Point a few times.
This shot taken in 2002, you can see a blue Camaro parked next to us.
Hours later when leaving he got t-boned right after leaving the gate,
what a shame.

I also posted this on build shots of my "other car" so please ignore it if you've already seen it.
While my coupe was getting a roll cage and suspension work at my fabricator's home shop I got
to sit in Pure Hell. All I can say is WOW!

 

Good short story, a year and 1/2 ago my neighbor down the street asked me if I could give his grandson a ride in the hot rod some day. Of course!
So a few weeks went by and the kid, 10 year old Jack, came over.
Gave him a ride and he absolutely loved it! Made his day.
A short while later I got this card [in an envelope] in the mail.
That made MY day, future gear head? Hope so,

Just came across a picture of the first house I bought for $34,500 in 1972.
San Mateo, Ca. Hot Rod and Challenger behind it.

  On the way home from a burger run one of the guys ahead of us had his tire come
  apart on the freeway.
  It's a primered 48 Ford coupe with a blown sbc.
  Steel belted radial must have been a recap [?].
  All I saw was a bunch of black pieces coming up in front of us.
  Then saw his car pulling over with the rear fender flapping around [wtf?].
  Apparently he only had two bolts holding on the rear fender, one came out, holy cow.
  We pulled over and then he limped it off the freeway, I had some bailing wire
  and used that to hold the fender in place, he was able to drive it home;
  the tire still held air.
  It merely took out my front plate [see attached]; I checked out the entire car underneath,
  it's OK. Could have been a lot worse, could have had a fender in my face,
  "dodged the bullet."
  Think I'll drive up front next time, geeze,

Backing up a bit [should have been on the first page].
There was a Atlanta Richfield gas station right next door to my folk's house in Daly City.
I spent many, many nights there, my buddy Ernie Pezzola worked there and
bought a brand new 64 Falcon light blue, 6 cyl. 3 speed and immediately had 50/50Muffler in Burlingame install a straight tube axle, 9" with lift bars; 427 Ford, staggered cross ram with two Holleys, top loader 4-speed.
Had it painted orange and had a black interior installed.
Chromed the glove box and ashtray, killer stereo.
What a bad ass ride!

When I came home from the military, he still worked there, always let me use the lift and any tools they had.
He had gotten married but still had the Falcon.
He was in the middle of purchasing a Model A Ford pickup cab that had already been chopped for $500 but his wife just got pregnant. It was stored in a barn down 3rd st SF.
I offered him $550 sight unseen, now the Instigator.

Found a chassis on my grandmother's block in SF, Girard St.
Bed and grill, you know the rest.
Sure glad she got pregnant!

Was at "Sears Point" drags and spoke with tech. I've got a six point cage but because the roof is chopped they want more, like diagonal bars across the roof and criss-cross bars at the doors.
I can barely get in and out of the car now, oh well.
That was of course a while ago.
No longer interested in racing it now anyway...

 

Some of you "older fellas" might get a kick out of this.
My 72 pickup was making a strange noise when I shut the motor off, turned out to be the voltage regulator. I haven't installed one of those in decades.
I installed a new one today, prior to starting the engine I was thinking "do I have to reverse the polarity?" ARM to BATT jumper?
I had to google it, turns out that's just for generators, AHHHH.
The 72 [with an alternator] fired right up, 14,4 v now and quiet.
My last generator was in the 60s, jeez,

Yeah, it's a bitch getting older. Things that were second nature to me in the 60's and 70's sometimes aren't there and I have to look them up. Really enjoying this thread, thanks.

 

I know what you mean, the wife has a 2011 Jeep, I open the hood, look at the plastic covers
and close the hood. I don't even attempt to work on it.
